Zito Seeking Win 2,000 in GP Nightcap

Hall of Fame  trainer Nick Zito will be seeking his 2,000th  career win when he  sends  out  Howlin  Mad Smith in Friday's  tenth and  final race at Gulfstream  Park  on Thursday.

The race is a $12,500 maiden claimer at  one mile on dirt  for  4-year-olds and up.   The  purse is $18,000.   Scheduled post is 5:02 p.m.

The field has eleven horses, following the scratches of Attack Zone and Morning Edition.

Nik Juarez  will ride Howlin Mad Smith,  who is 6-1 in the morning line.

Howlin Mad Smith has not  hit the board in any of his seven starts. He is  a 5-year-old gelded son of  Unbridled's Song.
