Imperative Edges Stanford in PoseidonIm

Imperative beat the favored Stanford by a nose in the fifth at Gulfstream, the $400,000 Poseidon.'

The race was in a sense a junior varsity version of the upcoming Pegasus. Both are 1 1/8 miles on dirt.

In the Hurricane Bertie (Grade 3) third race, the 4-5 favorite Curlin's Approval beat Genre by 2 1/2 lengths.

Curlin's Approval,a 4-year-old  filly won the seven-furlong dirt race in 1:23.23.  Luis Saez rode the winner for trainer Marty Wolfson and owner Happy Alter.
