Always Dreaming lived up to some big expectations on Wednesday as he won by 11 1/2 lengths in a $22,500 maiden special weight race for 3-year-olds at Tampa Bay Downs.
Always Dreaming ran the one mile and 40 yard race in 1:40.54, very good for a lightly-raced 3-year-old, on the track listed as fast.
John Velazquez made a trip across state from Gulfstream Park to ride the colt Always Dreaming for trainer Todd Pletcher.
Watch Your Words, a first-time starter trained by Pletcher, finished second in the nine-horse field and was ridden by Jesus Castanon.
It was the third start for Always Dreaming, whose sire is Bodemeister, He finished third at 5 1/2 furlongs last July 1 at Belmont and second at six furlongs at Saratoga on Aug. 20,
Always Dreaming is owned by a partnership of MeB Stables, Teresa Viola Stables, St Elias Stales and Brooklyn Boyz.
