No Fault of Mine Pleases Bettors in Wayward Lass Stakes

The 5-year old mare, the favorite No Fault of Mine beat out rival Royal Jewely here today in the second stakes of the day The Wayward Lass, the 7th race on the card. 

Daniel Centeno and No Fault of Mine were sixth at the start but fought gamely on the outside moving up three wide on the far turn and drew a late, but clear run for the 2 1/2 length win over Royal Jewely, the second place finisher. Centeno remarked "when she roughed the bit she seemed to respond." No Fault of Mine is trained by Chris Block and owned by Lothenbach Stables Inc in Kentucky. She won with a clocked time of 1:44.63.


Royal Jewely the runner up was ridden by Edwin Gonzalez n trained by Gerald Bennett, pressed the pace and was very gamely, just let up towards the end. He finished seven lengths ahead of Alto Belle, the third place finisher.

The race was 1 1/16 miles on the dirt. The total Win Place Show came to $229,145, and the charts are as follows below.
