The Friday feature race at Gulfstream Park is seven
furlongs on dirt for three-year-olds and is headed by the highly-regarded colts
Alum and Speedmeister.
It is a $75,000 optional claimer with a $48,000 purse.
Scheduled post is 4:32 p.m.
Alum, trained by Todd Pletcher, and Speedmeister,
trained by Mark Casse, both have one impressive win in their young careers.
Both are sons of Bodemeister,
the successful young sire who finished second in 2012 in the Kentucky Derby and
in the Preakness. I’ll Have Another caught Bodemeister in the final strides in both
races.
Gulfstream has a ten-race card with first post of 12:35
p.m.
Tampa Bay Down has nine races on Friday, with first
post of 12:25 p.m.
The featured seventh race is one mile on turf for
fillies and mares four-years-old and up. It is a $32,000 optional claimer with
a $22,500 purse.
Conditions are fast and firm at both tracks.
During the afternoon, we will have coverage of both
tracks on this blog.
