Sire Stakes Headlines Gulfstream's Saturday Races

Gulfstream Park has 12 races scheduled today, as the Sire Stakes 3rd and last leg of the series gets underway.

It's day 91 of the Spring-Summer meet that started way back in April, and ends next week on Sept. 30th.

$125,000 Wildcat Heir StakesRace 7; 3:26 PM Post ; 1 mile on dirt for Florida-bred 3 year-olds

$400,000
My Dear Girl StakesRace 9; 4:30 PM Post; 1-1/16 miles on dirt for 2 year-old filles

$400,000
In Reality StakesRace 11; 5:38 PM Post; 1-1/16 miles on dirt for 2 year-old Colts and Geldings

The Morning Line favorites are: Wildcat Heir: WELL DEFINED at 2:1; My Dear Girl: OUTFOXED at 4/5, and In Reality: OCTANE @ 2:1.

Just 24 entries are listed total for the three races, so bettors may well consider these races vs. the higher field-sized claiming races.

Race 4's entries will run for the Hollywood Beach Stakes (non-Sire Stakes race) also. Eleven horses are entered. That race will be a shorter 5 furlongs on TURF, with a $75,000 purse. Post time is approximately 1:50 PM. The favorite here is LAST LEAF at 2:1 odds.

CARRYOVERS: The sole carryover on Saturday will be the Rainbow 6 wager. It now sits at $144,818 in its 8th day. On Friday, 39 bettors won $1,179.04 each. No one had all 6 winners, so that payout ratcheted down to 5 of 6 winning tickets. That's happened just one other time this meet, August 15th.

The Rainbow 6 kicks off with race 7 at approximately 3:26 PM.

Good Luck Today and thanks for reading !

Gulfstream Park's Thursday Racing; 12:50 PM Post Time

Florida's Gulfstream Park will run an 8-race card Thursday, with first post time of 12:50 PM. There are no stakes races.

Three turf races are planned: #4,6,8. Four of the last 5 race days have seen multiple off turf races due to rain. There is just one carryover to consider: The Rainbow 6 wager.

The carryover is $108,768 on the 20 cent bet in day # 6 of the new wagering sequence. September 11th was the last Mandatory payout.
One advantage perhaps is the lower field sizes of the 6 races; just 46 on average the past 5 race days. Betting pools are near $100,000 the last two days, but ramp up when the carryover increases.

So a Thursday or Friday wager may face less competition than the increased weekend bettors. Just a thought.

In Sunday's racing, 9/19; 19 winners split the $111,112 pool, each taking $3,275 on the Rainbow (Pick-6) bet.

Good Luck.

This link to the Equibase Web site has the Gulfstream entries for Saturday. It will update for any scratches or other program changes. It has click-ons for handicapping material, Some is free. Some, such as Past Performances, is at cost.

Starship Nterprise is the likely favorite. She won the Martha Washington Stakes, at one mile on turf at Gulfstream on June19.

In her next race she finished second by a neck to Key Biscayne in the Monroe Stakes at Gulfstream on July 24.  That one mile race  was taken off the turf. Key Biscayne is a 4-year-old and thus is not eligible for the Miss Gracie.

Miguel Vasquez will ride Starship for trainer Steve Dwoskin, who owns the filly in a partnership  wih Starshi[ Stables.

Restofthestory, Sunshine City and Cultured are other contenders in the eight-horse field.

We will have coverage during the afternoon.
