Gulfstream's Wednesday Racing; 12:10 PM Post Time

Gulfstream Park has a 9-race card Wednesday to start its February race calendar. First post is at 12:10 PM.
Gulfstream races Wednesday through Sunday at the Hallandale Beach, Fla. track.

No stakes races are on the Wednesday card. The 4th through 9th races are the Rainbow 6 races, starting at approximately 1:38 PM. The Rainbow 6 pool and carryover get a fresh start Wednesday, as the whole shebang was paid out Sunday in the mandatory payout racing day. Read more from the Gulfstream Park's media office post at: https://gulfstreampark.com/news/sundays-rainbow-6-mandatory-yields-multiple-usd6-086-payouts/

The Sunday wagering was $17.4 million, of which $6.25 million was bet on the Rainbow 6. With a 20% takeout on the days wagers, and adding the $828,942 carryover from Saturday, that yielded about 955 winners of the Rainbow 6, each collecting $6,086.16.

The long-odds winner Sunday was in race #6 when Stat at 22:1, beat Ski Patrol by 2 lengths. The race favorite was My Sea Cottage (1.2:1) finishing 3rd.

Total all-sources track handle was $17.38 million Sunday, along with a $657,000 in purse money.

Pegasus 2023 Results; Sunday's Pick 6 Carryover $2 Million

Gulfstream Park's Pegasus Day 2023 was full of upsets and unpredicables, with huge wagering payoff for the lucky few.
Just a single race had the post time favorite entering the winners circle; that was Personal Best (1.3:1) in the La Prevoyante Stakes in race 6. What's also quite rare is just 4 race results had the favorite finishing 'in-the-money', meaning a 1st, 2nd or third place finish. And...the post time favorites in the last 6 races did not finish better than 5th place! You could not have handicapped that!

That led to some huge payoffs on the day:
* Early Pick 5 paid $24,477.25 to about 33 winners.
* Late Pick 4 paid $ 1,774.75
* Late Pick 5 paid $ 7,390.55
* Rainbow 6 paid  $ 17,231.84 to 60 winners; program numbers were: 7-11-9-6-3-6.

The best WIN on the day was no doubt the Super Hi-5 wager in the $3 million Pegasus Cup Race 13. After a carryover in race 12 with no winner of $15,431, bettors added $141,894 in wagers in race 13.
Just ONE winner correctly handicapped the first five finishers, whose post positons were 6-5-11-9-1. That bet paid $131,739.40. Art Collector (15.5:1) won the Pegasus Cup dirt final race, while Defunded (3:1) got the PLACE, and Stilleto Boy (45:1) secured the SHOW.
Cyberknife, bid down to 2:1 at post-time as the favorite, finished a diappointing 6th.

Sunday's race day will feature 11 races with a 12:10 p.m. post time. Race 6 will kick off at 2:48 p.m. as the only carryover on the Rainbow 6 at $828,942. It's a mandatory payout day on the late Pick 4,5 and rainbow 6. Gulfstream is setting a $2 million pool guarantee for Sunday's wagering on the Rainbow 6, so if you have any dry powder left from Saturday, maybe now's the time?

Total all-sources handle on Pegasus day hit a new record Saturday by a head-bob or neck as we see it. Total All-Source handle was $43,886,543, just $9,552 higher than last year's Pegasus race day.

Pegasus 13 Races at Gulfstream Park - 10:50 AM Post Time

Gulfstream Park's Pegasus Day 2023 is here! It's a day full of major competitions in the equine-racing world. There are 9 stakes races planned Saturday, seven of which are graded stakes. The day includes 13 races, starting with an early 10:50 a.m. ET first post time at the Hallandale, Florida race track.

The Pegasus World Cup Invitational started in 2017, when Gulfstream was able to get enough sponsors to offer a $12 million purse; at that time the richest horse race in the World. Arrogate, the favorite, won that firts cup race, with Mike Smith under the mount, and Bob Baffert the trainer ($7 million to the winner).  The format has changed since then to include higher purses on the "under-card" races, as is the case this year. We like that, as it adds to more excitement for the fans and also horse-men to compete for the $100,000 to $500,000 purses.

For a complete story on the Pegasus Cup Races and carryovers Saturday, surf over the the Gulfstream Park media's article here: https://tinyurl.com/ynp23btn  Proxy, at 9:2 Morning Line odds is the favorite from post 1.

This year's field is 13 horses, with Hoist the Gold scratched as of Friday night, but check your wagering source Saturday for changes. The race is 1-1/8 miles on the dirt track for 4 year-olds and up.

Total all-sources handle averaged about $40 million the past 6 years, with 12 races. The 13 race-card Saturday should surpass that we reason; $43.87 million handle at the 2022 Pegasus.

In Friday's Gulfstream racing action, 83 horses entered the gates for 10 races. Just two favorites won on the day, and thhigh odds win was 9:1 in race 10. The popular Rainbow 6 paid $3,082.88 to 31 winners on a pool of $170,682. So Saturday will enter the carryover of $601,851. Gulfstream announced earlier this week the planned mandatory payout on the Rainbow 6 for Sunday, Jan. 29th, so it will be interesting if the jackpot can be taken down a day early, on Pegasus Day, Saturday.

Good Luck wagering !

In Thursday’s action, four favorites won their races, two of them in the Rainbow 6 races 4-9. But … the 40:1 win by Adeliese’s Smile in race 4 was enough of a hurdle to land a single winner of the Rainbow wager; that paid out $533,783.64. Ana’s Gun finished second as the betting favorite (4:5) by one length. The winning ticket was purchased through the NYRA hub.

The winning program positions were: 2-5-5-6-1-4/7.
It was day 12 in the Rainbow 6 carryover. The Late Pick 5 paid just $1,563.95 because race 4 was not part of that wager and favorites finished first or second in the last 5 races.

So the Rainbow 6 will start anew Friday with no carryover.

Total all-sources track handle was $6.27 million Thursday, along with a $424,000 purse size.
