BAUER'S FRIDAY BETS: FAST & FIRM at TAMPA

Tampa Bay Downs ends 2021 with a nine race program, the first Post time is 12:38 PM.

Racing will be held every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (except Easter) until closing day, May 7.

Today's play is in Race 8, Post time is scheduled for 4:15 PM. Live coverage on RadioStPete.com, including announcer Jason Beam will start at 4:13.

A group of three year-old and up Fillies & Mares will go six furlongs seeking their second lifetime win under $12,500 NW2L conditions.

KITTY KITTY (1) is choice here, for a few good reasons. Trainer John Vinson is an astute horseman and wins at a high rate with limited stock. Presently, he has 67% wins with a record of two scores and a show from only three starts at the Downs so far this season.

This sophomore Filly may have an edge on her rivals, shipping in from Gulfstream and dropping into a condition Claiming contest for the first time. She owns the best speed figures and has a trio of workouts over the Oldsmar oval .

Top tier veteran jockey Pablo Morales (20% winners) will be in the irons.

THE BET   $20 win and place on KITTY KITTY (1) also, a $2 exacta box using  BLAZINONBAYOU (2) and CHILLIN LADY (5)           1,2,5
TOTAL BET $52   GOOD LUCK !!

PREVIOUS RESULTS  12/29   We were close, but didn't cash. The win and place bet finished third, and the exacta ran first and third. Lost $32, the bankroll is now $1,076.20

New Year's Eve Racing at Gulfstream Park

Gulfstream Park plans 8 races Friday, New Year's Eve.
First post time is 12:30 PM.

The Rainbow 6 ramped up again with no jackpot winners Thursday, and now sits at a cool $600,130. That wager starts in race 3 Friday at approximately 1:30 PM.

On Sunday, there were just 6 tickets with all winners of the Rainbow-6, each collecting $13,779.10 on the 20 cent bet.

The highest odds winners were 13.4:1 and 11.8:1 in races 5 and 8 respectively.

Wagering on the Rainbow 6 was $147,735. Look for continued large pools on the Rainbow 6 wager as the carryover grows.
All sources track handle was $6.04 million Thursday.

Happy New Year to all of our loyal readers, and the best to you all in 2022 !

Gulfstream's Wednesday Racing; Rainbow 6 Carryover

Gulfstream Park plans 10 races today, as it opens its weekly race schedule through Sunday.

It's race day 18 of the Championship Meet that began December 3rd.

The Rainbow 6 enters today with a nice, fat carryover of $521,332, being run on races 5-10 with the sequence starting at approximately 2:28 PM.

Last Sunday, there were 145 tickets with all winners of the Rainbow-6, each collecting $1,119.90 on the 20 cent bet. The highest odds winner was 8:1 in race 9 when Yamato won by 3/4 lenghts.

The winning program numbers were: 1-2-8-6-2-9.

Wagering on the Rainbow 6 was $290,512 Sunday, the third highest of this meet. Look for continued large pools on the Rainbow 6 wager, as the over 1/2 million dollars carryover will likely entice larger bettors to enter the game.

BAUER'S WEDNESDAY BETS: FAST & FIRM at TAMPA

The Downs presents a nine race program, the first Post time is scheduled for 12:20 PM.

Many players will take a shot at the $46,708 Pick 5 carryover, starting in Race 5. That Post time is scheduled for 2:18 PM

Today's play is in Race 7, a full field of three and four year-old fillies will go a mile on the turf under $25,000 NW2L conditions.

Race 7 Post time is 3:18, Live coverage on RadioStPete.com starts at 3:15

MYSTIC DREAMS (7) appears to be a Filly with a future on the green. This sophomore daughter of Irish sire MAGICIAN was an impressive winner on the local lawn in her first turf try on November 26. She made a bold bid three-wide at the top of the stretch and cleared the field to best a group of Maiden Claimers and moves up to the next logical step here.

Three factors aided in that victory. Blinkers on, the turf course and Ace jockey Jesus Castenon. She has all that going for her again today and her trainer, Jordan Blair is currently scoring at 29%.

THE BET:  $10 win and place on MYSTIC DREAMS (7) and a $2 exacta part-wheel, up and down with TAKE TO THE SKIES (4), IRAZU (8) and SARA MIA (10).

7/ 4,8,10
4,8,10 / 7           Total Bet $32    GOOD LUCK!!

Would recommend using MYSTIC DREAMS (7) if you play the Pick 5. Deep tickets might want to include all four of the above mentioned runners.

PREVIOUS RESULTS  12/26  Lost $32, the bankroll is now $1,108.20.

BAUER'S SUNDAY BETS: FAST & FIRM at TAMPA

Tampa Bay Downs presents a nine race program as Sunday racing starts today, Post time is 12:15 PM.

From now until closing day on May 7, the Downs will have live racing every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

RACE 6, has a half-dozen sprinters in this compact but competitive field going six panels under $75,000 NW3X Optional Claiming conditions.

Post time is 2:43 PM. Live coverage starts at 2:40 at RadioSTPete.com.

There is a runner here who appears to be an overlay at 12/1 on the morning line.

PRIVET MOON (6) is the class of this race. This sophomore son of MALIBU MOON owns a three for six lifetime record and has won a Stake race on dirt. He also has beaten $75,000 Optional Claiming rivals in the past and it appears he has a huge chance to do it again.

There are questions however. There are new connections and this colt has been away for 124 days. Veteran jockey Jose Ferrer is one of the best in Oldsmar currently winning at an 18% clip. Trainer Kerri Raven has solid stats 25% winners (1 for 4 this season) and 19% with new stock. PRIVET MOON (6) has won fresh in the past and should be fit and ready. He has had a trio of local works, including a "bullet" .48 flat for four furlongs on December 10. This is a tough bunch, no doubt. But, the price is right.

THE BET  $10 to win and place on PRIVET MOON (6) and a $2 exacta box with GRADE ONE (1) and PAYNE (2)      1,2,6.                                        Total Bet $32    GOOD LUCK!!

PREVIOUS RESULTS  12/24  Just missed all the money. Had the place and exacta. Collected $24 for place and $60.40 for the exacta.  The $84.40 total yields a profit of $48.40 on the $36.00 total bet. The bankroll is now $1140.20

Gulfstream's Friday Racing; 12:00 PM Post Time

Gulfstream Park plans 10 races Friday, Christmas Eve - with a first post at 12:00 Noon.

The Rainbow 6 has a carryover of $352,416, being run on races 5-10 with the sequence starting at approximately 1:58 PM.

On Thursday, there were 16 tickets with all winners of the Rainbow-6, each collecting $9,748.10 on the 20 cent bet.

The program numbers were: 5-4-6-9-8-8.

Wagering on the Rainbow 6 was $274,760, the second highest of this meet that started Dec. 3rd.
Gulfstream takes out 20% of the wager, then puts 24% in the carryover for the next race day. The remaining 56% is disributed to the winning ticket-holders.

Today's feature is the 10th race: the H. Allen Jerkens Stakes at 2 miles on turf for 3 year-olds and up. Gulfstream races very few at the 2 mile distance, so it should be one to watch.

The race is named after hall of fame trainer who died in 2015 at age 85.
He was known as the Giant Killer, for major upsets in stakes races. Jerkens trained in 20,976 starts over his 60 year-racing career !

In 1973, several months after Secretariat swept the Triple Crown, Jerkins trained horses Onion and Prove Out .beat Secretariat in races at Saratoga and at  Belmont Park.

Do have a safe and memorable Christmas and Holiday

BAUER'S FRIDAY BETS: FAST & FIRM at TAMPA

Tampa Bay Downs presents a nine race Christmas eve program with the first Post time scheduled for 12:15 PM.

The entire facility will be closed on Saturday, Christmas day. Sunday racing starts with the reopening on December 26.

Racing will be held every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, until the season's end on May 7.

Today's play is in Race 9 with a 4:17 PM Post Time. A wide open handicapping puzzle awaits in the nightcap. Ten Maidens will do battle at mile on the lawn under $32,000 claiming conditions. Bettors should be able to get square prices on several contenders.

Here is a 6/1 shot who just might jump up and graduate today. MACHINEGUNPREACHER (4) moves to the turf and drops into Claiming company for trainer Kelsey Danner. (24% winners, 1st time grass).
He is a new gelding after a trio of dull outings (dirt and synthetic) and has been rested since November 1. He is bred for the sod and was sold for $250,000 as a baby, by far the highest price in this group. Former Tampa champ Daniel Centeno will ride.

THE BET:   $10 win and place on MACHINEGUNPREACHER (4) and $2 exacta part-wheel up and down with KARL CARES (2), OCTOBER TIME (3), BOSSHOG THEM DUKES (7) and LAST SECOND LOUIE (10)

4/2, 3, 7, 10-2, 3, 7, 10/4     Total Bet $36    GOOD LUCK!!

Live coverage including the call of  track announcer Jason Beam will start at 3:15 on RadioStPete.com.

STYNER (5) is in fine fettle now and may have an edge on his rivals. This sophomore was an impressive winner on the local lawn on December 1, his first try on that surface. He made up a twelve length deficit in that effort and better things could be in store. He was claimed that day by the powerful Jesus Cruz barn. (43% winners in Tampa, 26% after a claim) This gelding is a runner, scoring three victories from five starts. Top tier rider Antonio Gallardo will be aboard. Worth a wager at 6/1 on the Morning line. He moves up to try Allowance foes here, he looks to be able to stand the raise.

THE BET  $10 win and place on STYNER (5) and a $2 exacta box with FLY LIKE AN EAGLE (2) and AMERICAM D'ORO (9) 2,5,9 Total Bet $32.     GOOD LUCK!!

PREVIOUS RESULTS  12/22; Cashed the win and place bets, just missed the exacta. Collected $156 from the $52 in bets, a profit of $104 on the day. The bankroll is now $1,095.60

Have a Merry Christmas and Holiday!

BAUER'S WEDNESDAY BETS: FAST & GOOD at TAMPA

Tampa Bay Downs is running under a special schedule during Christmas week. Live racing will be conducted on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The entire Downs facility will be closed on Saturday, Christmas day.

All operations resume on Sunday, December 26, including the start of Sunday racing. After that, Tampa Bay Downs will have live racing every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday until the season's end on May 7.

Today's program has nine races, the first Post time is 12:20 PM.

The play for today is in Race 8, Post time is 3:48 PM. Live coverage on RadioStPete.com, including the call from announcer Jason Beam, will start at 3:45.

A full field of eleven Maiden three year-olds and up will try to graduate at six furlongs, under $10,000 Claiming conditions.

SPANISH SOUL (8) is the one to bet at 8/1 on the Morning line. This first-timer has several angles in his favor. His trainer John Vinson wins at 29% in this situation. He scored a victory (with John Bisono up, he rides again today) last week under similar circumstances.
This outfit is known for having their runners ready. SPANISH SOUL has logged ten works in preparation for his debut and    may be in a good spot, this isn't the toughest field here.

THE BET   $20 win and place on SPANISH  SOUL(8) and a $2 exacta box with HEAVENS TALE (10) and NANTUCKETER (11)  8,10,11.                 Total Bet $52    GOOD LUCK!!

BAUER'S FRIDAY BETS: FAST & FIRM at TAMPA

There are ten races on the card at Tampa Bay Downs, the first Post time is scheduled for 12:09 PM.

Today's play is in Race 7, Post time is 3:15 PM. RadioStPete.com live coverage including the call from announcer Jason Beam will start at 3:12.

Three year-olds and up will go six furlongs under $5,000 Claiming non-winners of two races in six months conditions.

UNION GAP (8) drops in from Miami to try $5,000 rivals and the Oldsmar oval for the first time. This sophomore colt has been rested since beating $6250 company at Gulfstream on October 14. It is doubtful that any of the foes he faces here could equal that.

Also, this son of UNION RAGS earned the top speed figure and shows the most late pace ability. This should benefit him as it appears that as many as six early lead types are in this field.

THE BET  $20 to win on UNION GAP (8) and a $2 exacta box with OLD TIMERS DAY (2) and FIRE HORN (5) 2,5,8.  Total Bet $32   GOOD LUCK!!

PREVIOUS RESULTS  12/17  Lost $32, the bankroll is now $1023.60

Three year-olds and up will sprint six furlongs in Race 6, under $25,000 NW2L conditions. Post time is 3:15 PM. RadioStPete.com live coverage by announcer Jason Beam, starts at 3:12.

JACKSON STRONG (7) appears to be a possible overlay at 8/1 on the Morning Line. There is a lot to like here as this Kathleen O'Connell trainee drops into condition claiming company for the first time. The class relief should give this sophomore gelding an edge and he might be ready for a top effort after a seven month hiatus. He has logged four local works since November 14.

The O'Connell outfit is known for having their runners ready. This son of ELUSIVE QUALITY clearly likes the Oldsmar oval, with a win and a place last season from a pair of starts under Hector Diaz Jr. Diaz returns in the irons once again.

THE BET:  $10 win and place on JACKSON STRONG (7) and a $2 exacta box with MYSTERY MO (4) and ALL FOOLS DAY (6)  4,6,7 exacta-box.  Total Bet $32.   GOOD LUCK!!

BAUER'S BETS: FAST & FIRM at TAMPA

Tampa Bay Downs plans a 9 race-card on Wednesday, with the first post at 12:20 P.M.

A full field of ten colts and geldings are signed on to go a grassy mile in Race 5, under $16,000 NW2L conditions.

Scheduled Post time is 2:18 PM. Live coverage including the call from track announcer Jason Beam, starts at 2:15 p.m. on RadioStPete.com

This may be a wide-open betting affair, as all the runners are trying for a second win after breaking through their Maiden condition.

WHISKEY PLANK (1) has a good turn of early foot and figures to be prominent from the gate. He had the lead at the top of the stretch on November 27, in his first try on the local lawn. That outing was at eight and one-half furlongs, the turn-back to a flat mile today will be to his advantage.

Alonzo Quinonez, a promising young rider, takes the mount for the first time. He scored on the turf lately on a double digit longshot. Loose on the lead runners won a couple of events last week, look for that trend to continue when the situation permits.

THE BET $10 win and place on WHISKEY PLANK (1) and a $2 exacta box with ROSE FOR A SAINT (5) and JAMA DILLON (6)     1,5,6                           Total Bet $32      GOOD LUCK!!

PREVIOUS RESULTS  12/11  Collected $42 on the $59 in wagers, a loss of $17 for the day. The bankroll is now $1087.60

Gulfstream's Wednesday Racing

Gulfstream Park starts its weekly racing (Wed.-Sun.) with a 9-race card on Wednesday.

The first post time is 12:30 PM.

In Sunday's racing action, 55 starters competed in the last 6 races (Rainbow-6), and 6 winners of that wager each collected $14,383.42.

Two carryovers for today: Rainbow 6 at $36,986, and the Super Hi-5 with a carryover of $16,182. The Super Hi-5 wager should be available in race 1, with the minimum 7 starters planned as of this morning. It's a $1 wager.

Track all-sources handle was $7.77 million Sunday.

Race 4 kicks off the Rainbow 6 sequence, slated to start at approximately 1:58 PM.

Starting this meet, Gulfstream's horses now race on three surfaces: Dirt, Turf, and Tapeta - the artificial ALL WEATHER TRACK (AWT). Races 8 and 9 today will run on the AWT.

Good Luck to You.

Gulfstream's Rainbow 6 Hit Saturday; Sunday Post Time 12:30 PM

Gulfstream Park will run 10 races Sunday, with no stakes races planned. First post time is 12:30 PM.

In Saturday's action, two late race unexpected winners resulted in a Jackpot payout on the popular Rainbow 6 wager.

In The Mr. Prospector Stakes, Officiating (7.4:1) held off the favorite Endorsed to win by 3/4 lengths.

Then in race 11,
K.C. Chief (14:1) bested Merlin by 1-3/4 lengths. The race favorite Uninvited Guest finished 9th.

Those longer odds winners were enough to single out one winner of all six races - thus taking down the carryover plus 80% of today's $254,089 in new wagers.

The payoff was $407,067.66 - just in time for Christmas shopping in two weeks.

The Rainbow 6 wager would normally reset to ZERO, but Gulfstream announced they will seed the pool to a minimum $100,000 guaranteed if a single winner is had.

The SUPER HI 5 wager will carryover Sunday with $4,788 in the kitty for that wager,
Track handle was $12.61 million Saturday.

Race 5 kicks off the Rainbow 6 sequence, slated to start at approximately 2:26 PM.

Good Luck!

Also a $3 exacta part wheel with SHIVAREE (3) and WELL DEFINED (4), R MERCEDES BOY (5) and CAJUN CASENOVA (6).   3 with 4,5,6.       Total Bet $29  GOOD LUCK!!

Friday's play is in Race 6. Post time is scheduled for 3:15 P.M.

$16,000 Maiden Claimers, Fillies and Mares three and up, will travel a mile on the lawn.
Live coverage on RadioStPete.com, including the call from announcer Jason Beam, will start at 3:12.

PROMISE ME (1) is in a good spot to graduate here. This sophomore looks to be a "need to lead" type of runner and she should get a favorable trip under top tier turf jockey Pablo Morales.

Look for her to go to the front right from the gate and save ground on the hedge and lead this group on a merry chase to the winner's circle.

She worked a pair of stamina-building flat-mile drills on November 19 and December 4.  She has been freshened since September 12 and could be ready for her best effort yet. A decent price at 5/1 on the morning line.

THE BET   $20 win and place on PROMISE ME (1) and a $2 exacta box with FAST FASHION (7) and SYLUBUS (10) 1,7,10

Gulfstream Park's Thursday Racing

Gulfstream Park will run 10 races today, with a first post time of 12:30 PM.

With few exeptions, the Championship meet will race 5 days a week (Wednesday through Sunday) until the meet ends in early April. One turf race is planned in race 9; the rest will be on the dirt or Tapeta all-weather surface.

In Wednesday's racing action, 49 starters competed in the last 6 races (Rainbow-6), and 42 winners of that wager each collected $1,451.06.

The sole carryover today is on the Rainbow 6 at $142,834 as it enters day 6 of this wager. The last jackpot payout was on November 20th. Track all-sources handle was $5.17 million, a robust number for a weekday. We'll see how that shakes out as this Championship meet continues.

Race 5 kicks off the Rainbow 6 sequence, slated to start at approximately 2:28 PM.

Starting this meet, Gulfstream's horses now race on three surfaces: Dirt, Turf, and Tapeta - the artificial ALL WEATHER TRACK (AWT). Races 8 and 9 today will run on the AWT.

Wednesday, December 8, 2021

BAUER'S BETS: FAST & FIRM at TAMPA

A half-dozen fast Fillies and one Mare will sprint five furlongs on the lawn in Race 5, Post time is scheduled for 2:20 PM. The conditions are $75,000 Optional Claiming, Non-winners of three races, other than Maiden, Claiming or Starter.

RadioStPete live coverage including the call from announcer Jason Beam will start at 2:17.

This is a good betting situation, as the probable favorite BRAMBLE BAY (4) may be vulnerable at today's distance. She ships in and will try the Tampa turf for the first time. This five year-old Mare has never won at five furlongs and will be chasing some confirmed speed merchants.

ABOVE PAR (7) from the powerful Gerald Bennett barn is another trying on the local sod. Bennett, last seasons top trainer, claimed this one for $32,000 out her last race on October 16 at Delaware Park. This outfit wins at 25% after a claim and she has logged a trio of local works. The latest a "bullet" 36.2 Breezing on December 3. A very square price at 6/1 on the morning line.

THE BET   $10 win and place on ABOVE PAR (7) and a $3 exacta box with NIGHT CAP (2) and BRAMBLE BAY (4).    2,4,7.    TOTAL BET $38     GOOD LUCK!!

BAUER"S BETS: FAST & FIRM at TAMPA

Today kicks off this season's Stakes program with a pair of $100,000 six furlong events for two year-olds.

Race 7 features the Sandpiper Stakes for Fillies. Post time is scheduled for 3:10 PM. RadioStPete live coverage, including the call from announcer Jason Beam will start at 3:07.

STRATEGIC BIRD (1) gets top billing off her impressive twelve length romp over Florida-bred Maiden Special foes at Gulfstream on November 13. Antonio Gallardo rides for trainer Mark Casse. This one could be any kind, she could improve after her first outing or bounce due to the big effort and return on short rest. A very interesting race.

THE BET   A $3 exacta part-wheel (up and down) with STRATEGIC BIRD (1) as the key. The other runners to use are: DEVILETTE (8), SHE'S MY WARRIOR (6), DEVINE CHARGER (2) and SHE'S SO BEAUTIFUL (10).  1/2,6,8,10  also  2,6,8,10/1  Total Bet $24

Race 9 is the Inaugural Stakes for Colts and Geldings. Post time is scheduled for 4:20 PM, RadioSt.Pete coverage will start at 4:17.

CONCRETE GLORY (10) is the choice here, as he has won his last trio of starts by daylight margins, the last pair by seven lengths or better. Those last two huge wins were his only races on dirt, a repeat of those performances will put him back in the winner's circle. Antonio Gallardo takes the mount for the Gerald Brooks barn.

THE BET  $20 to win on CONCRETE GLORY (10) and a $3 exacta part-wheel (up and down) with MAGICAL MOUSSE (3), CATTIN (5) OLD TOWN ROAD (7) and LIGHTNING LARRY (8).  10/3,5,7,8  also  3,5,7,8/10   Total Bet $44       GOOD LUCK!!

BAUER'S BETS: FAST & FIRM at TAMPA

Race 5, Post time scheduled for 2:40 PM, showcases some well bred Maiden Fillies and Mares. The field of eight all seek to to graduate in this grassy mile and one-sixteenth test under Maiden Special conditions.

RadioStPete live coverage including the call from announcer Jason Beam will start at 2:37.

KITTEN TALES (8) the daughter of KITTEN'S JOY appears to have an edge here. She earned the top turf figure in her last start, a good third (only missed by a length and a half) at Delaware Park on October 2. Her form looks to be on the improve for turf ace Arnaud Delacour, she has logged five works and should be fit and ready. Hector Diaz Jr. who gave a good account of himself last season in Oldsmar will ride for the first time. This one appears to be a legit favorite.

THE BET  $20 to win on KITTEN TALES (8) and a $2 exacta box with RICHENBOURG (2) and ZURI (3).  2,3,8. Total Bet $32  GOOD LUCK!!

PREVIOUS RESULTS  12/1  Lost $32, the bankroll is now at $1058.20.

BAUER'S BETS: FAST & FIRM at TAMPA

Tampa Bay Downs has a nine-race  card on Wednesday, with first post of  1:26 p.m.

Today's play is in Race 7, Post timduled for 3:25 PM. Live coverage including the call of announcer RJason Beam starts at 3:22 on RadioStPete.com

Fillies and Mares three and up will sprint seven panels on the main track. The conditions are $32,000 Optional Claiming NW2X.

It appears that there is ample early speed in this group and the pace may set up for a closer, especially at today's seven furlong distance. The filly who can benefit from this scenario is STRIKING CHROME (4), from the barn of Gerald Bennett. She comes into this race off a three length win going a two turn route at Delaware Park on October 2, earning the best late pace fig here. This daughter of CALIFORNIA CHROME is 1 for 1 at this demanding distance and that victory came here in Oldsmar last season under Roberto Alvarado Jr. She should like the turn-back in distance today and has ran well fresh in the past. Bennett was last season's leading conditioner and has been a force in the Tampa trainer's ranks for many years. He is overdue for a for a trip to the winner's circle, as the outfit is winless in eleven attempts.
