Tampa Bay Downs has a nine-race card on Wednesday, with first post of 1:26 p.m.
Today's play is in Race 7, Post timduled for 3:25 PM. Live coverage including the call of announcer RJason Beam starts at 3:22 on RadioStPete.com
Fillies and Mares three and up will sprint seven panels on the main track. The conditions are $32,000 Optional Claiming NW2X.
It appears that there is ample early speed in this group and the pace may set up for a closer, especially at today's seven furlong distance. The filly who can benefit from this scenario is STRIKING CHROME (4), from the barn of Gerald Bennett. She comes into this race off a three length win going a two turn route at Delaware Park on October 2, earning the best late pace fig here. This daughter of CALIFORNIA CHROME is 1 for 1 at this demanding distance and that victory came here in Oldsmar last season under Roberto Alvarado Jr. She should like the turn-back in distance today and has ran well fresh in the past. Bennett was last season's leading conditioner and has been a force in the Tampa trainer's ranks for many years. He is overdue for a for a trip to the winner's circle, as the outfit is winless in eleven attempts.
