By Jim Freer and Barry Unterbrink

Both tracks will pay out the entire coming-in carryovers and 80 percent of the day's new Pick
6 bets-- no matter the number of tickets with all six winning horses.

The two tracks also will have mandatory payouts on their Late Pick 5 and Super Hi-5 bets. There are no carryovers on any of those  four bets going into Tuesday.

At Gulfstream, the Rainbow 6 carryover will be $407,675. The 20 cents per combination-only bet will be on races four to nine with the sequence set to start at 1:34 p.m.  First post is 12:00 p.m. for a nine-race card.

In a news release on Sunday evening, Gulfstream said it expects that the Tuesday Rainbow 6 pool, including the day's bet, will be as much as $3 million.

Tampa Bay will have eight races on Tuesday with first post of 12:25 p.m.

It has a carryover of $61,218 on the Ultimate 6. The 20  cents per combination-only bet is on races three to eight with the sequence set to start at 1:37 p.m.

*
.NOTE--Tampa Bay Downs is not open for betting or racing, due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Gulfstream has wagering only in its Ten Palms restaurant and Silks simulcast center. Gulfstream  suggests that patrons call ahead for reservations.  The main number is (954) 454-7000.

Betting on Gulfstream and  Tampa Bay races is available on  most Advance Deposit Wagering) platforms.

The Gulfstream Rainbow 6 and Tampa Bay Ultimate 6 are almost identical in structure.

Multiple horses are allowed in each leg of the bet. For example, a ticket with two horses in each race has 64 combinations and costs $12.80.

Tuesday  June 30 is the final day of the state of Florida's 2019-2020 fiscal year.  Florid laws prohibit pari-mutuels from extending a carryover into another state fiscal year. Thus the tracks have mandatory payouts.

NOTE--Later on Monday, we will have an article with additional details on how payouts are determined on the Pick 6  bets.

BAUER'S BETS: FAST & FIRM at TAMPA

Today's feature is Race 6, a mile on the lawn for $10,000 open company Claimers. A full field is scheduled to go to the Post at 2:58 PM.

FOX ROX (8) appears to be the one to catch under ace turf rider Pablo Morales. This sod loving gelding has a record of three wins on the grass in Oldsmar from six trips, including victories at five furlongs and one mile. He could lead this group on a merry chase this afternoon if allowed to get loose on a course that has been kind to runners with early foot lately.

THE BET $20 to win on FOX ROX (8) and a $2 exacta box with DONE ACTING (3) and GO HIPPO GO (5).     3,5,8.     Total Bet $32
GOOD LUCK!!

PREVIOUS RESULTS  6/22   Lost $22, the bankroll is now plus $118.00.

$8,000 open company Claimers, four year olds and up, will sprint six furlongs in Race 7. Post time is scheduled for 3:29 PM.

BETWEENHEREANDCOOL (3) has certainly given a good account of himself since shipping to Tampa in April. He has a local record of two places and a win in three attempts, including a five length romp at seven panels with $5,000 non-winners of a race in six months in his last outing. Today, he takes a slight rise in class, but turns back in distance. This veteran gelding is a good bet to repeat at 5-1 on the morning line.

GP Rainbow 6 Jackpot Grows to$123,074

Gulfstream Park's eleven-race card is underway with conditions listed as Fast and Firm.

The Rainbow 6 carryover is four days old and has grown to $123,074. The 20-cent per combination-only bet is on races six to eleven with the sequence scheduled to start at 2:38 p.m.

Gulfstream is guaranteeing that the  pool will be at least $300,000 if there is just one ticket with all six winning horses. Such a ticket would take down the jackpot of the entire coming-in carryover plus 80 percent of today's  new Rainbow  6 bets.

The feature tenth race is an allowance optional/claimer at 6 furlongs on dirt for 4-YOs and up.  The purse is $47,000 and the tag price is $62,500.

Gulfstream Ten Palms at Capacity for Belmont; Rainbow 6 Carryover is $81,362

Gulfstream Park's twelve-race Saturday card is underway.

There are no stakes races on the card. The carryover on the Rainbow 6 is $81,362.  The 20 cents per combination-only bet is on races seven to twelve, with the sequence scheduled to begin at  3:10 p.m.

And as on every day  since March 13, Gulfstream's ground floor is closed to spectators and it is not taking bets there--due to concerns about possible spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

But if you had acted quickly this week, you might have been able to reserve a seat in the Ten Palms restaurant on the track's second floor--and bet on today's Belmont Stakes.

Ten Palms has mutuel clerks who are taking bets on Gulfstream races and simulcasts of other tracks including Belmont Park.

Gulfstream announced on June 11 that it would open its second floor casino room on Thursday June 18 and open the adjacent Ten Palms on Friday June 19.
Word that Ten Palms would offer betting began filtering out (including a report in HorseRacingFLA on Tuesday) and by Wednesday all tables and seats wee taken for Saturday at Ten Palms.

Because of social distancing, the Gulfstream casino and Ten Palms  have capacity limits lower than pre=coronavirus.

Additional information may be  found by calling Ten Palms at 305  331-2240.

Belmont Preview: Clear Skies, Post at 5:42

By Jim Freer
One solid bet for Saturday’s $1 million Belmont Stakes (Grade 1) is that the winner will be  a horse that raced in Florida  this year.
But will it  be the heavily favored Florida Derby winner Tiz  the Law, the late-running Sole Volante or the speedy Tap it to Win?

Dr Post  will need all things to go right to win, but looks like a horse to include underneath in tris  and superfectas.

Farmington Road will probably pass some tiring horses, and could be a good long shot to hit the board.
Those are the five Belmont Stakes horses that  raced at Gulfstream Park and-or at Tampa Bay Downs this year.  They are listed in bold in the entries below. If any of the other five horses win it will be a surprise to us.
Belmont Stakes FieldThe field is listed below in order of posts and program numbers,  with jockeys and trainers. Morning line odds are in parentheses. All horses will carry 126 pounds.
We will have previews and other coverage later this morning and this afternoon.
1. Tap It To Win (6-1)                 John Velazquez–Mark Casse.
2. Sole Volante (9-2)                   Luca Panici–Patrick Biancone
3. Max Player (15-1)                   Joel Rosario–Linda Rice
4. Modernist (15-1)                     Junior Alvarado–Bill Mott
5. Farmington Road (15-1)      Javier Castellano–Todd Pletcher
6. Fore Left (30-1)                      Jose Ortiz-Doug O’Neill
7. Jungle Runner (50-1)           Reylu Gutierrez-Steve Asmussen
8. Tiz  the Law (6-5)                 Manuel Franco-Barclay Tagg
9. Dr Post (5-1)                    Irad  Ortiz Jr.–Todd Pletcher
10. Pneumatic (6-1)              Ricardo Santana–Steve Asmussen

The Weather Channel  forecast for Saturday afternoon is for temperatures in  the high 70s with  the chance of rain ranging between 5 percent and 15  percent.
The Belmont Stakes is 1 1/8 miles this year and is the tenth race on Saturday’s card at Belmont Park in Elmont, N.Y. Scheduled post is 5:42 p.m. Eastern. NBC’s over-the-air stations will have a live telecast from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00  p.m. Eastern.
Schedule Changes
The Belmont Stakes is 1 1/8 miles, rather than its standard 1 1/2 miles.  That change was made several  weeks ago. It was expected that numerous Belmont runners would come in never having raced longer than 1 1/16 miles.
That is because several 1 1/8 mile Triple Crown prep races have been postponed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The race is traditionally one lap around Belmont’s 1 1/2 mile track known to many as “Big Sandy.”  Saturday’s shorter race will start in a chute on the backstretch.
Like most other U.S. thoroughbred tracks, Belmont Park is racing without spectators. Fans can watch and wager on Belmont Park’s Saturday races using Advance Deposit Wagering (ADW) phone and Internet accounts.

Amid schedule changes, the Belmont was moved  from June 6 to June 20.

The Belmont this year is the first race, rather than the final race, in thoroughbred racing’s Triple Crown.
The Kentucky Derby was moved fom May 2 to Sept. 5. It is keeping its 1 1/4  mile distance and remains at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky.
The Preakness has been moved  from May 16 to Oct. 3.  It remains at Pimlico in Baltimore and is keeping its 1 3/16 mile distance.

BAUER'S BETS: FAST & FIRM at TAMPA

A compact, but competitive field of a half dozen four year-old and up sprinters will go six and one- half furlongs on the main track in Race 5. Post time for this $32,000 NW2X Optional Claiming event is scheduled for 2:28 PM.

RUFFOLO (6) is the choice as this gelding makes his first start of the season in Oldsmar with only five racing days left. He boasts a record of four wins from six starts at Tampa Bay Downs and has been on the grounds since early March, logging nine works (including two bullets) for trainer Michele Boyce. He likes to run fresh and has earned a pair of victories and a place on dirt tracks after a layoff. Might be sitting on a huge effort today.

THE BET $10 to win on RUFFOLO (6) and a $3 exacta box with SMALL FORTUNE (2) and STORM ADVISORY (5) 2,5,6.  Total Bet $28
GOOD LUCK!!

PREVIOUS RESULTS  6/15  Lost $22, the bankroll is now plus $168.00.

Draw for Belmont Stakes is At Noon Wednesday; Florida Derby Winner Tiz the Law Heads Field

The post positions draw will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday for Saturday's $1 million Belmont Stakes (Grade1) at Belmont Park in Elmont N.Y.

It is anticipated that nine horses will be entered in the Belmont, which this year is the first race in thoroughbred racing's Triple Crown for 3-year-olds.'

Tiz the Law, winner of the Florida Derby (Grade 1) at Gulfstream Park on March 28, is the likely heavy favorite. Four of the other likely entrants raced at Gulfstream and/or at Tampa Bay Downs this year.

The draw will be streamed live on the New York Racing Association's YouTube pagehttps://www.youtube.com/user/NYRAvideo

Scheduled  post for the Belmont Stakes is 5:42 p.m. Eastern.  It  will be carried live by the NBC over the air channels.

The Belmont Stakes is traditionally run at 1 1/2 miles as the third leg of the Triple Crown.

Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, there are some changes this year.

The Belmont will be 1 1/8 miles because due to postponement of several prep races, most of the Belmont entrants have not raced longer than 1 1/16 miles.

The Kentucky Derby has been moved back from May 2 to Sept. 5.  It keeps its 1 1/4 mile distance and remains at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky.

The Preakness Stakes has been rescheduled from May 16 to Oct. 3.  It keeps its 1 3/16 mile distance and  remains at Pimlico in Baltimore.

The colt Tiz the Law is owned by Sackatoga Stable and is trained by Barclay Tagg.  They had the same roles with Funny Cide. In 2003, that gelding won the Kentucky Derby and Preakness and finished third in the Belmont.

In addition to the 1 1/8 mile Florida Derby, Tiz the Law won last year's one-mile Champagne Stakes (Grade 1) at Belmont and this year's 1 1/16 mile Holy Bull (Grade 2) at Gulfstream.

Sole Volante, Dr Post, Farmington Road and Tapit to Win also have raced in Florida.

The late-running Sole Volante won the 1 1/16 mile Sam F. Davis  (Grade 3) at Tampa Bay Downs on Feb. 8.

Dr Post won the ungraded Unbridled Stakes at 1 1/16 miles on April 25.

Jungle Runner, Max Player, Pneumatic and Modernist are the other likely entrants.

On Friday, Gulfstream will reopen its Ten Palms restaurant, which is adjacent to its second floor casino.
The casino and Ten Palms had been closed since March 17.  Four days earlier, Gulfstream began racing with no spectators permitted on site.

The casino will be open Sundays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m.
Ten Palms will open at 11 a.m.  on Friday and will have an a la carte menu. Additional information may be  obtained by calling (305) 331-2240.

But the “no spectators” rule with no live betting remain in place elsewhere on the Gulfstream property.

Access to the track, walking ring and other racing areas is limited to jockeys, trainers and their staff and track employees and employees of regulatory agencies whom are considered essential for operations.
In announcing the reopenings of the casino and Ten Palms, Gulfstream issued this statement:
Gulfstream is following all recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), state and local authorities and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
Gulfstream’s reopening plan has also been approved by Broward County, the City of Hallandale Beach and the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR).
