Rainbow 6 Opener Won by 5-2 Shot

The Rainbow 6 for Sunday is underway at Gulfstream Park, with the 5-2 shot Youshouldbesolucky (12) winning the fifth race/first leg.

Hero Up (5) finished second by 1 1/4 lengths in the five-horse field.

CristianTorres rode the 4-YO gelding Youshouldbesolucky in the $12,500 claiming race at 1 1/16 miles on turf.

Youshouldbesolucky is trained by Eddie Plesa Jr. and is owned by Laurie Plesa (his wife) and David Melin. They had the same roles with that horse's sire Itsmyluckyday, who in 2013 won the Holy Bull (Grade 3) at Gulfstream and finished second in the Preakness (Grade 1) at Pimlico in Baltimore. 




Wagering on Sunday's Rainbow 6 was  $115,304. Gulfstream had guaranteed that the pool would be at least $100,000.

It was the start of a new Rainbow 6 pool--following Saturday's mandatory payout that closed out a  pool where the carryover had grown to $1,861,605 over 20 days.

Bettors added $7,705,766 to the Rainbow 6 on Saturday.  There were138 tickets with all six  winners.  Each of those tickets won $58,26714.  

They divided a jackpot that was made up of the entire caaryover and 80 percent of the day's new Rainbow 6 bet.

Wagering on Sunday's Rainbow 6 was  $115,304. Gulfstream had guaranteed that the pool would be at least $100,000.

If there is just one ticket with all six Rainbow 6 winning horses, it would be paid $92,243--80 percent of the day's Rainbow 6  bet.  There is 20 percent takeout.

If there are multiple tickets with six winners, they would divide 56 percent of the day's Rainbow 6 bet and 24 percent would be used to start a new carryover.
