Race 6 starts the Rainbow 6 at approximately 3:08 PM Eastern Time.

BAUER'S BETS: Dirt Good, NO TURF RACING TODAY

Today's play is in Race 7, Post time 3:30 PM. (3) BEST OFFER is an interesting runner in this $6250 claimer at eight and one-half furlongs. Veteran conditioner John Rigattieri recently claimed this gelding back after he was claimed away on December 12. The Rigattieri outfit wins at 31% with new claims and it is a good sign when a successful trainer claims one of his runners back. Gallardo has won with him in the past and returns today.

THE BET $10 to win on (3) BEST OFFER and a $5 exacta box with (7) WILD SCAT BLUE (the main rival) 3,7. Also a $2 exacta box with those two and (8) NED DEVINE 3,7,8. Total Bet $32. GOOD LUCK!

PREVIOUS RESULTS Lost $3 on Sunday. The win bet went down, but we caught the exacta worth $29, which was much better than losing the entire $32 wager. The bankroll is now at plus $214.90.

Gulfstream's Wednesday Racing; 10 Races, 12:35 PM Post

Wednesday's horse racing at Gulfstream will include 10 races, a 12:35 PM first post, and a growing carryover of $398,432 on the Rainbow 6 bet. Even numbered races are on the turf.

Horse Racing FLA has monitored the Gulfstream Park wagering handle since August,  2015 and going into Wedenesday, the Rainbow 6 carryover is the largest in any first 8 days at least since 2015. The largest previous was $315,048 on Jan. 19th 2019 in the last big cycle.

The  Saturday Rainbow handle number of $320,408 is the  5th largest pool for non-mandatory payout days.  All four higher were in the last cycle. The record pool was last month at $660,702 set Saturday, January 26th, which was Pegasus World Cup Invitational Day.

Race 5 starts the Rainbow 6 Wednesday at approximately 2:37 PM Eastern Time.

In Sunday's racing action, 105 starters left the gates, pursuing $439,000 in purses, and the high odds winner was just 8:1 on the day.

Just 4 odds-favorites won their races Sunday, and just 1 won in the last 6 races, but the odds were 6:1 or lower in the last 5 races. Fifty-three starters competed in the Rainbow 6 wager (races 8-13).

The Rainbow 6 jackpot keeps rolling up as the daily pools are averaging $207,000 since the jackpot was last hit on Feb. 15th by a single winning ticket-holder. $300,680 was bet on Sunday on the Rainbow, and $11.34 million was the total handle.

In Saturday's racing action, 127 starters left the gates, pursuing $598,000 in purses, and a couple upsets made for large payouts to the few lucky race fans.

Just 4 odds-favorites won their races Saturday, and none won in the last 7 races.

A pair of 10:1 and 15:1 winners in races 13 and 8 threw the bettors for a loop, and the late race payouts soared.

A field of promising Maidens go seven furlongs on the main track in Race 6, Post time 3:15 PM.

Gulfstream's Saturday Racing - $250,000 Rainbow 6 Carryover

Saturday's racing at Gulfstream Park will commence at 12:oo PM, including 13 races with 3 stakes races mixed in.

The Weather channel forecasts partly cloudy skies, with mid/high - 70's temps and a 5% to 20% chance of rain during racing hours.
In Friday's racing action, 93 starters ran for $381,000 in purse money and a $8.75 million total handle. Five favorites won their races, resulting in lowered payouts.

Gulfstream's Friday - 11 Races, Carryovers

Gulfstream Park has an 11-race card scheduled for Friday, with a 12:35 PM first post time at the Hallandale, Florida track. There are no stakes races today.
On Wednesday, 87 starters ran under Clear-Firm conditions, where 4 favorites won their races, and the high-odds win of the day was in race 11 @ 12:1.
The odds vs. winners were quite perplexing on the late races.
Bettors added $188,576 to the Rainbow 6 pool Thursday, and the starters were 54, a very normal field number.
Yet the payout was a whopping $52,792 to just 2 ticket holders. With races 6 and 11 being 11:1 and 12:1 winners, we would not have guesses that only two bettors had the correct combination. None-the-less, the carryover will continue into today, with $205,138 available to a SINGLE winner. Race 6 starts the Rainbow 6 at about 3:08 PM.
The other payouts late in the day’s card were:
Late Pick 4 – $1,932
Late Pick 5 – $3,641
The Super Hi 5 was not hit in the last race, so that carryover is $3,340 today in race 1 unless two scratches occur.
Good luck !

BAUER'S BETS: Fast & Firm at Tampa

Today's play comes in Race 3, Post time 1:50 PM.
(7) STAY ANCHORED might have an edge on this field of older $25,000 NW2L Fillies and Mares going a mile on the lawn.

This miss had a pair of good efforts on the local grass against Allowance foes. The figure from either race would win here. She should appreciate the class relief as she faces Condition Claimers for the first time. Declan Cannon retains the mount for Ignacio Correas.

THE BET $10 to win on (7) STAY ANCHORED and a $2 exacta box with (8) IT'SAGIMME'SGIRL and (3) SHANGAI JEWEL  3,7,8. Total Bet $22   GOOD LUCK!!

PREVIOUS RESULTS The three horse exacta box on Wednesday was reduced to a two horse box because of a late scratch. The win bet and exacta box went down. Lost $14. The bankroll stands now at plus $228.10

Gulfstream: Carryovers for Friday, Stakea on Saturday

BAUER'S BETS: Fast & Firm at Tampa

Really like a first timer in Race 8, Post time 4:30 PM. (1) EGYPTIAN STORM is worth a bet at 6-1 on the morning line as she makes her debut with nine Maiden Filly rivals at eight and one half furlongs on the sod.

Top notch turf trainer Christophe Clement has worked this daughter of PIONEER OF THE NILE ten times at Payson Park since December 1. Leading jock Camacho rides, they win at 38 % together in Tampa. She is bred to love the lawn.

THE BET $10 to win on (1) EGYPTIAN STORM and a $2 exacta box with (2) INDIGO GIN and (7) CHANCETHERACER.                                    Total Bet $22       GOOD LUCK!!

Gulfstream Rainbow 6 Carryover Nears $120,000

Gulfstream Park will have a Rainbow 6 carryover of  $119,458 when it  resumes racing on Wednesday.

First post  is  12:35 p.m. for an 11-race card.

The  Rainbow 6 is on races six  to  eleven with the sequence  scheduled to start at  3:08 p.m.

On Wednesday's first race there is a carryover of $3,069 on the Super Hi-5.

On Monday, there were 24  tickets  with the winners of all six  Rainbow  6  races,  Each paid $4,246.88 on the 20-cent only bet.

The  carryover has grown because Gulfstream has gone  three race  days without the jackpot/carryover payoff requirement of just  one ticket with the winners of all six Rainbow  6 races. The jackpot consists of  80 percent of the day's new  Rainbow  6  bets plus the entire  carryover.

The carryover  coming into Monday was $73,894.

Bettors added $189,871 to the  Rainbow  6  pool. Per its  rules on days with multiple winning tickets,  Gulfstream took out 20 percent of the day's  Rainbow  6  bets. It divided 56 percent among tickets  with six winners  and added  24 percent to the carryover.

The  program numbers of  the  six  winning  horses were  8-5-11-4-2-3.

Favorites Win First Two Legs of GP Rainbow 6

There are  four  races left, numbers  nine through  twelve, on Monday's special Memorial Day card at Gulfstream.

Those  are the four  remaining  races in the Rainbow  6 and in the Late Pick 5. If you had the favorites in those races, you  are alive  on your  tickets.

The carryover  coming in on the Rainbow 6  was $79,394.  Bettors  added $189,871 to that pool  for that  20-cent only bet.

Wagering was $224,865 on the Late Pick 5--a 50-cent minium bet.

The eighth race winner was Midtown Rose (5). It was the $600,000 Queen Mother at seven furlongs on dirt for  3-YOs  that have  raced at least once for a claiming price  of $50,00 or less.

Midtown Rose won in 1:23.60 on the track listed as fast, with Irad Ortiz Jr. riding for trainer  Saffie Joseph Jr.  She was the 9-5 favorite.

The  seventh race  winner was the 2-1favorite Itsmyluckycharm (2) by  a head over Bister Peacock (12) at  5-1.

That race was the $60,000 Mrs. President at  one mile  on turf for 3-year-old  fillies that  have  raced for a claiming price of  $35,000 or less at east once in their careers.

Eddie Plesa Jr. trains Itsmyluckychrm and also trained his  sire Itsmyluckyday, the winner of the 2013 Holy Bull Stakes at  Gullfstream.

Itsmyluckycharm won Monday's race in 1:35.91  on the course listed as firm, with Joe  Bravo riding. It was her fifth win in nine career starts.

She is a Kentucky-bred  homebred of Eddie  Plesa  Racing Stable.

Laurie Plesa, Eddie's  wife, is the owner of Itsmyluckycharm and with Trilogy  Stables was co-owner of Itsmyluckyday.

Gulfstream to Race Monday, Presidents Day

Gulfstream Park will have live  racing this Monday Feb. 18  with its  annual  Presidents Day card.

Gulfstream will have  twelve Monday   races with first post of  12:00 p.m.

Ten of the races are starter stakes, all with $60,000 purses. All of the stakes  races are  restricted to  horses  that at least  once in their  career  have raced at or below a designated claiming price.

All of  the stakes races have names that are nicknames of or are otherwise  connected to U.S.  presidents and  first ladies or to British  royalty.

For example the  tenth and feature race  is the Old Hickory.  That was the nickname of Andrew Jackson, who was elected  president in 1828  and in 1836.

BAUER'S BETS: Fast & Firm at Tampa

Today's play is in Race 7, Post time 3:55 PM. Three year-old Maidens race a mile and forty yards on the main track.

(8) DESERT SPRING has alot going for him in here. He is the only runner in this lightly raced field to show any ability at today's conditions, two turns on the dirt. Was a good second on Dec. 7 vs. similar. 25% trainer Mike Stidham sends him out as a new Gelding with first time Lasix.

THE BET $20 to win on (8) DESERT SPRING and a $2 exacta box with (1) CAMGO and (6) CURLAWAY 1,6,8. Total Bet $32 GOOD LUCK

PREVIOUS RESULTS Lost $63 yesterday. The bankroll is now plus $274.10

Gulfstream Park plans a 12-race card Sunday, with the starting gate opening near 12:00 Noon. 109 entrants are listed on the program. There are no stakes races.
The sole carryover will be the Rainbow 6 wager, at $35,562. That wager starts in race 7 at approx. 3:08 PM. Sixty three horses are listed as entrants. The weather channel forecasts just a 0-10% chance of rain during racing hours.
But the air temperature will reach the mid-80’s during most races, a departure from recent race days thus far this Winter. Check the hourly weather here at: https://weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/l/33009:4:US
On Saturday’s racing, 105 starters chased $530,000 in purses over 12 races. Three favorites won, and just one favorite finished less than third (race 1, 4th), so the payouts were smallish. The high odds races were two and three: 14:1 and 13:1, leading to some high payouts for the early Pick 3, 4 and 5.
Blamed won the Royal Delta Stakes in race 11 as the 4:5 favorite, running gate to wire from the 7 post.
The Rainbow 6 pool was $148,209, and about 250 winners cash that wager for a relatively  low $326.04. The late Pick 4 paid $74.20, and the late Pick 5 paid $145.10. That’s pretty ugly, but each new day brings a changing picture of odds-making.

Radiostpete to Air Both Tampa Stakes , With Previews by HRFLA’ Bauer

There are two stakes races, both dirt  sprints for older horses, at Tampa Bay Downs this afternoon.

Internet station Radiostpete  will carry track announcer Richard  Grunder’s live call of each of those races.

The first of Saturday’s two stakes is the Pelican at six furlongs on dirt for 4-YO and up. It is the seventh race with scheduled post of 3:46 p.m.

The $50,000 Minaret is six furlongs on dirt for fillies and mares  4-YO and up. It is the ninth race, with  scheduled  post  of  4:50 p.m.

Bob Bauer, HorseRacingFLA’s handicapper and associate editor  for Tampa  Bay, will preview both of  those races during the post  parade and then provide results and a recap after the race.

Radiostpete  and HorseRacingFLA combine for that  coverage  of a  “race of the day”  each  race day at the Oldsmar, Fla., thoroughbred track.

On days when Tampa Bay Downs has more than one stakes race, Radiostpete has live coverage of all of those races.

In an article to be run adjacent to this one, we will have our daily “Bob Bauer’s Bets” feature  in which he  will analyze the Pelican and the Minaret and provide his  recommended  bets for  the two  races.

Each race day, Radiostpete carries Bauer’s preview of the Tampa Bay Downs race card. His reports air at approximately 8:10 a.m. and 12:10 p.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.  On Sundays, his reports  air at approximately 9:10 a.m. and 12:10 p.m.

Each race day. on this blog and on our Web site we also have Bauer’s “race of the Day” report and  recommended bets on a rac eat Tampa  Bay Downs.

Bauer is a former director of publicity at Tampa Bay Downs and a former racing writer for the St. Petersburg Times

Saturday's Gulfstream Racing - 12:00 Noon Post

Gulfstream Park kicks off this weekends horse racing with its 12 race Saturday card, commencing at 12:00 Noon in Hallandale Beach, Florida. One stakes race is planned – race 11. It’s the Royal Delta Stakes, 1 mile on the dirt for fillies and mares 4 year-olds and up.

The $150,000 purse is pursued by 7 listed starters, with Tequilita listed as the M/L favorite at 8:5. The post time is approx. 5:12 PM.

The Rainbow 6 jackpot was hit on Friday, to the tune of $227,506, amid a wild surprise in the last race, as Off the Mark (43:1) went gate to wire and beseted the favorite Vaughan by 5-3/4 lengths to pull the upset.

That result made for just a single winner on the Rainbow 6 wager, so it took down the entire carryover plus the pool after takeout !  Just two favorites won the last 6 races Friday.
The Late Pick 4 paid $6,833, and the Late Pick 5 paid a kingly sum of $23,623.

So the Rainbow sequence starts anew today with $0 carryover, while the Super Hi-5 carryover will be $2,254.

Ed Prado Stakes, Race 11 – $100,000 at 7-1/2 furlongs at 5:12 PM.

Friday’s action included 6 favorites crossing the wire and another carryover on the Rainbow 6 wager, as 55 starters in that bet resulted in multiple winners (29). With 11:1 and 8:1 winners in two legs, the payout was $7,783 for each winning ticket.

The late Pick 4 paid $968, and the late Pick 5 paid $1,059.

Gulfstream has set today, Feb. 9 as a mandatory Rainbow 6 payout day—regardless of the number of tickets with the winners of all  six Rainbow 6 races.

With a carryover of $1,509,922 today and the prospect of higher winnings with the forced payout, we expect perhaps $500,000 to $700,000 in wagers to the pool today.

The Rainbow 6 is on races 7 to 12 with the sequence scheduled to start at 3:07 PM in race 6.

Good luck !

Friday's Gulfstream Racing; Noon Post - Carryovers

Gulfstream Park will host a 12-race horse racing card Friday, with a first post time of 12:00 PM.

Six turf and six dirt races are planned, with no stakes races to run. Read on for the carryovers.

On Thursday, 83 starters ran 10 races at the Hallandale, Fla. track. The huge anamoly Thursday was the lack of ANY FAVORITE winning ! We have not evidenced that in a long time.

The closest favorites finished 3rd in races 3,4,5 and 10. That knocked scores of folks out of the win column on the straight WPS bets and exotics.

The late Pick 4 paid $3,849
The late Pick 5 paid a monstrous $57,091, and the Rainbow 6 paid a whopping $55,346 to three lucky bettors.

Besides the lack of favorites having much giddy-up, the last races was won by 24:1 shot Imperial Majesty, which further befuddled the bettors for the late multiple race bets.

Today's carryovers include the Rainbow 6 at $1,413,194 and the Super Hi-5 in race 1 at $23,293.

The Rianbow 6 starts in race #7 at approximately 3:02 PM.

Good Luck !
