Sunday at Gulfstream; Mandatory Rainbow 6 Payout; 12:00 Noon Post

Gulfstream Park plans an 11 race program Sunday.

First post time is 12:00 PM.
No stakes races are planned on the Sunday card.

Gulfstream announced they are forcing the Rainbow 6 payout today. The mandatory payout means the full carryover of $727,306 and the wagering for Sunday will be paid out regardless of the number of winning wagers.

This is in the recent norm to force the payout when the carryover approached $1 million.
Yesterday on Pegasus World Cup Invitational Day, $1.18 million was bet on the Rainbow 6, but the payout was a measly $77.68 for a 6 of 6 winner. Why? Five of six of those races were won by the odds-on favorite! Just the Fred W. Hooper Stakes in race 10 winner was the outlier when Speaker's Corner beat Fearless by 1-1/4 lengths.

Our quick math shows about 8,500 tickets won the Rainbow Saturday.

The Pegasus Day wagering All-Sources handle at Gulfsteam totalled $43.88 million. That was a gain of $3.1 million over last year's Pegasus Day, about an 8% increase.

BAUER'S SUNDAY BETS: FAST & FIRM at TAMPA

By Bob Bauer

Sunday's nine race card completes this year's first month of racing. Post time for the opening event is scheduled for 12:15 PM.

Monday, Tuesday and Thursday are dark days. The Downs has live racing every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (except Easter), until closing on May 7.

Today's play is in RACE 8, Post time is 3:47. Live coverage on RadioStPete.com, including the call from announcer Jason Beem starts at 3:45.

A full field of older Fillies and Mares will sprint six furlongs under $8,000 NW3L conditions.

MS MALEVOLENCE (4) appears to have an edge on her rivals, dropping into $8,000 company for the first time. This could be the easiest competition she will meet in her career so far. She ran for a $16,000 claiming tag last race, now that price is cut in half. A sure sign of trainer intent. This five year-old Mare was claimed by the Douglas Nunn barn at Monmouth for $16,000 last August. She was then laid off until January 5, where she ran fifth at that claiming price. Journeyman Isaac Castillo rode her three times in Jersey last summer and returns in the irons today. Presently in Tampa, the Nunn-Castillo combo is winning at a 75% strike rate, 3 for 4.

THE BET:  $20 to win on MS MALEVOLENCE (4) ($20) and a $2 exacta box ($12) with that one and MARICOPA (3) and MANGROVE MAMA (6). 3,4,6,   Total Bet $32.    GOOD LUCK!

PREVIOUS RESULTS  1/29/22   Lost $32, the bankroll is now $1,024.

BAUER'S SATURDAY BETS: FAST & GOOD at TAMPA

 By Bob Bauer

A ten race program greets Tampa players this Saturday, the first Post time is scheduled for 12:13 PM.

Tampa Bay Downs has live racing every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (except Easter) until closing day on May 7.

Today's feature, RACE 8, Post time 3:48, presents a group of Maiden Special four year olds and upward seeking to graduate at a mile and one-sixteenth on the lawn.

Live coverage on RadioStPete.com, including the call from announcer Jason Beem starts at 3:45.

This is a field of well bred expensive turf runners. Many had million dollar or more price tags as babies. It would be no surprise to see some of these in top Stakes company later in their careers.

TOUR OF DUTY (3) from the red hot Chad Brown barn (6 winners from 11 starts, 55%) is the choice in this puzzling handicapping chore. Many of the contenders are coming back from layoffs, a few could come back and run well, others may need a race.

TOUR OF DUTY'S (3) last (and only) race was a grassy mile at Gulfstream last February that was better than it appears at first glance. He finished sixth, with some traffic issues along the way. He did however, earn the best turf fig in today's field and should improve here. The Brown outfit wins at 27% with layoffs of ninety days or longer.

THE BET  $20 to win on TOUR OF DUTY (3) ($20) and a $2 three horse exacta box ($12) with that one and BATTLE OF BRITAN (5) and AUSSIE PRIDE (9).   3,5,9,     Total Bet $32                   Good Luck!

PREVIOUS RESULTS  1/28/22  Lost $32, the bankroll is now $1056.

BAUER'S FRIDAY BETS: DIRT FAST, NO TURF RACING at TAMPA

 By Bob Bauer

Friday's nine race card begins the weekend racing action in Oldsmar. Conditions are fast on the main track. The turf course remains closed for the second racing day, due to heavy rain on Thursday, January 27. The first Post time is scheduled for 12:15 PM.

Tampa Bay Downs has live racing every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (except Easter), until closing on May 7.

RACE 5, Post time 2:13, is today's feature. A very competitive group of sophomore Fillies will go a mile and one-sixteenth on the main track (off turf) under $32,000 Maiden Claiming conditions.

Live coverage on RadioStPete.com, including the call from announcer Jason Beem starts at 2:10.

SIGN AND SEAL (3) from the top tier Graham Motion barn is the one to catch. It appears she has an early pace advantage and might get loose on the lead as she gets blinkers on for the first time here. Hector Diaz Jr. (25% winners with Motion) retains the mount.

THE BET  $10 win ($10) on SIGN AND SEAL (3) and a $5 two-horse exacta box ($10) with LATIN NIKKITA (8) 3,8. Also $2 three-horse exacta box ($12) with SIGN AND SEAL (3) and LATIN NIKKITA (8) and CAPETOWN CANDY (5) 3,5,8      Total Bet $32        GOOD LUCK!

PREVIOUS RESULTS  1/26/22  Cashed the chalky win and place bets, missed the exacta. Collected $64 on the $52 in total bets, a profit of $12. The bankroll is now $1088.

Gulfstream's Thursday Racing; 12:30 PM First Post

Gulfstream Park plans a 9-race Thursday.

First post time is 12:30 PM.
The last post time is approximately 4:42 PM.

No stakes races are planned on the Thursday card.

Today's two scheduled-for-turf races, the fifth and ninth are now off-turf, to be run on the All-Weather Tapeta track, which is listed as Fast.

The carryovers today are the Rainbow 6 at $368,633.

That wager starts in race 4 at approximately 2:02 PM.

On Wednesday, there were 38 tickets with all winners of the Rainbow-6, each collecting $2,062.82 on the 20-cent bet.

Two high odds winners at 18:1 and 31:1 in races 5 and 6 helped the winning payout somewhat, but usually two longshots would reduce the winning bettors down to single digits. Four favorites won in the last 6 races.

The Super Hi-5 wager carryover is $3,604 today.

Wagering on the Rainbow 6 was $140,027.
All sources track handle was $5.61 million Wednesday.

Gulfstream on Turf for Wednesday

Gulfstream Park is back on the turf Wednesday.

That follows five  straight race days when rain and other wet conditions led it to  move all scheduled-for-turf  races to the all weather Tapeta surface.

Wednesday's fifth race and eigth race are on the turf,  listed as Firm.  The dirt  and Tapeta are listed as Fast.

BAUER'S WEDNESDAY BETS: MAIN TRACK GOOD, NO TURF RACING

By Bob Bauer

Heavy rain showers visited the Tampa Bay area yesterday, leaving us with a good main track and no turf racing today.

Live racing is conducted in Oldsmar every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (except Easter) until closing day, May 7.

Today's play is in RACE 8, Post time is 3:48 PM. Live RadioStPete.com coverage, including the call from track announcer Jason Beem, starts at 3:45.

A field of seven four year-olds and up will go six furlongs under $5,000 NW1y conditions.

CODETOWIN (6) appears to have an edge on his rivals, as this seven year-old drops in to face $5,000 company for the first time. His last outing was a decent third place finish versus $16,000 foes here, at today's distance on December 18. He was claimed that day the Douglas Nunn barn (26% winners after a claim) and has been in the money in four of five off track trips. This one has turned in a trio of drills for the new connections. The final workout was a "bullet" five panels in 1:02 flat.  Appears to be fit and ready.

THE BET  $20 win and place on CODETOWIN (6) and a three horse exacta box with GEMO (5) and HOT AND HEAVY (3)3,5,6 Total Bet $52   GOOD LUCK!

PREVIOUS RESULTS: 1/23/22 Lost $22, the bankroll is now $1,076.

BAUER'S SUNDAY BETS: FAST & FIRM at TAMPA

 By Bob Bauer

There are nine races on the Sunday card as the the four day racing week draws to a close. Tampa Bay Downs has live racing every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (except Easter) until closing day on May 7.

Today's play is in Race 9. The nightcap features a full field of sprinters (four year old and up) going five grassy furlongs under $32,000 NW2X conditions.

Post time is 4:21, live coverage on RadioStPete.com, including the call from track announcer Jason Beem starts at 4:18.

This is a well matched group and the outcome may hinge on the trip a horse and jockey work out at this sometimes tricky distance.

JAZZY TIMES (10) is in a good spot in the outside post. This veteran gelding returns here, second race after being moved to the Steve Cahill outfit and taking a short hiatus. He ran big in his comeback on December 1 on the local lawn, closing stoutly to miss by only a neck. Red hot Pablo Morales (24% winners) gets aboard for the first time. Trainer Cahill wins at a 30% clip with new stock. Expect a huge effort today.

THE BET  $10 to win on JAZZY TIMES (10) and a $2  three-horse exacta box with that one and OCEANIC (1) and FOX ROX (4)      1,4,10.    Total Bet $22      GOOD LUCK!

PREVIOUS RESULTS   1/22/22   Our 28 to 1 choice finished second after setting the pace until deep in the stretch. Collected the $16.80 place mutuel five times, a total of $84 on the $32 total bet. Missed the exacta. A profit of $52, The bankroll is now $1,098.

BAUER'S SATURDAY BETS: FAST & FIRM at TAMPA

 By Bob Bauer

There are ten races on the Tampa program today, the first Post time is scheduled for 12:15 PM. The weather is cloudy with some slight showers. So far, the track conditions have not been affected.

The Downs has live racing every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (except Easter), until closing day on May 7.

Saturday's feature, Race 6, brings together a group of well bred sophomore Fillies at a grassy mile under $26,000 Maiden Special conditions. Many of these could be Stakes caliber in the future.

Post time is 2:43, live coverage on RadioStPete.com, including the call from track announcer Jason Beem starts at 2:40.

STANDUP COMEDIENNE (9) is a live longshot (20/1) who may be able to upset this field as she runs on the lawn for the first time. It appears that there is a lack of early speed in here and this Filly could get loose on the lead and not get caught. Trainer Jon Arnett worked her on January 18, a blazing 47.2 at four panels. Also, if the weather causes this race to be moved to the main track, all the better.

THE BET   $10 win and place on STANDUP COMEDIENNE (9) and a $2 three horse exacta box with CONSISTENTLY (2) and DREAM NORTH (7). 2,7,9  Total Bet $32   Good Luck!

PREVIOUS RESULTS  1/21/22  Lost $22, the bankroll is now $1046.

BAUER'S FRIDAY BETS: FAST & FIRM at TAMPA

 By Bob Bauer

Weekend racing action starts with Friday's nine race program. The first Post time is scheduled for 12:15 PM.

Today's play is in RACE 8. A full field of sophomore  Fillies are seeking to graduate at five and one-half furlongs, under $16,000 Maiden Claiming conditions.

Post time is 3:44 PM. Live RadioStPete.com coverage, including the call from track announcer Jason Beem begins at 3:41.

NIGHTMIDST (9) from the barn of John Vinson is the choice here. The Vinson outfit is currently winning at 43% (3 for 7) and has quietly been quite successful in Tampa for several years. This low profile trainer should not be overlooked, his stock is usually fit and ready.

NIGHTMIDST (9) had a less than good outing in her debut against similar rivals on January 2. She was squeezed back at the start and got away eighth in the field of ten. The youngster then showed some potential as she was urged between runners to be only three lengths back entering the stretch. Look for this one to improve on the sixth place finish, she could score here with a clean trip. Should be a decent price at 5/1 on the Morning line.

THE BET:  $10 to win on NIGHTMIDST (9) and a $2 three horse exacta box with that one and MORE MUCHO (4) and AKEMI (6).
4,6,9.   Total Bet $22.00    GOOD LUCK!

PREVIOUS RESULTS:   1/19/22;  Had the winner and the exacta. The win bet paid $29 and the exacta $33.60, a profit of $40.60 on the $22 total wager. The bankroll is now $1,068.

BAUER'S WEDNESDAY BETS: FAST & FIRM at TAMPA

 By Bob Bauer

The Tampa racing week kicks off with a nine race program. The first Post time is scheduled for 12:15 PM.

Tampa Bay Downs presents live racing every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (except Easter), until closing day May 7.

RACE 6, Post time 2:48 is the Wednesday feature. A compact but competitive group of a half dozen older Fillies and Mares will go seven furlongs under $32,000 NW2X Optional Claiming conditions.

Live RadioStPete.com coverage, including the call from track announcer Jason Beam, starts at 2:45.

FEELING MISCHIEF (6) is in a good spot for her comeback race. This four year old Filly is no stranger to Tampa fans, having taken the Sandpiper Stakes last season. Since then, she has raced seven times without a win. All but one of these races were against Stakes rivals and the other was in a $100,000 event at Churchill. Today, she gets class relief, dropping to face $32,000 foes. Veteran trainer Mike Campbell has worked her over the track four times (three "bullets") since early December and that indicates a return to top form.

She has won after a freshening in the past and gets hot jockey Samy Camacho for the first time.

THE BET:  $10 to win on FEELING MISCHIEF (6) and a $2 three-horse exacta box with that one and TAP DANCE FEVER (1) and CLAY'S MOON STONE (2). 1,2,6  Total Bet: $22   GOOD LUCK!

PREVIOUS RESULTS:  1/16/22   The win bet ran second and we missed the exacta. Lost $22, the bankroll is now $1,027.40

BAUER'S SUNDAY BETS: DIRT GOOD, NO TURF RACING at TAMPA

 By Bob Bauer

There are nine races on today's card, all to be run on the good main track. Heavy storms moved through the Tampa area earlier today, forcing the closing of the turf course. First Post is scheduled for 12:14 PM.

Racing resumes on Wednesday January 19, with a another nine race program.

RACE 8, Post time 3:55 is today's feature. Four year olds and up will go seven panels under $8,000 NW2L conditions.

Live coverage on RadioStPete.com starts at 3:52.

THE BEAST GOES ON (1) with regular rider Samy Camacho aboard for conditioner Chad Stewart, is the choice here. This one was a good third in his last race (at this distance, missed by a length) and earned the best figure in this field. He also shows the most late pace ability, always important at seven furlongs. The track condition may help as he has a record of a win and a place from a pair of "off" track attempts.

THE BET  $10 to win on THE BEAST GOES ON (1) and a 3 horse $2 exacta box with GIVE ME TWO STEPS (5) and STAR DEPUTY (7); 1,5,7

TOTAL BET $22    GOOD LUCK!

PREVIOUS RESULTS  1/15/22  Not a good day. Bet a total of $66, collected $22. Lost $44, the bankroll is now $1,049.40

All of today's Stakes races will be covered live on RadioStPete.com, including the call from track  announcer Jason Beam.

Thoroughbred racing is held at Tampa Bay Downs every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (except Easter), until closing on May 7.

RACE 5, Post time 2:14, starts the Stakes action. The $125,000 PASCO STAKES at seven furlongs is for three year olds. Those who run well will go on to longer distances as the season progresses.

THE BET:  $10 to win on CYBER VIKING (2) and a $2 exacta box with PROVACATEUR (1) and CATTIN (5).  1,2,5.  Total Bet $22

BAUER'S FRIDAY BETS: FAST & FIRM at TAMPA

By Bob Bauer

There are nine races on Friday's Tampa card. The first Post time is scheduled for 12:38 PM. Live racing is held every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (except Easter) until May 7.

It appears that the Downs has an abundance of talented turf runners shipping in now. Most are well bred expensive types who have run well on grass last year, coming to Tampa after a hiatus to lay a foundation for upcoming Stakes later this season. Watch the NW1X races on the lawn.

Horse players should carefully evaluate the results of these races. Many of these horses will be running in top company after a successful prep in Tampa.

The red hot Chad Brown
barn is a shining example. This outfit has three wins and a place from four starts this season in Oldsmar. All came on the turf and were after breaks of ninety days or more.
His stock is usually fit and ready and well spotted. Sammy Camacho rode ST. JOE LOUIS (8) to a good place finish in his debut last season and has the return mount.

RACE 5, today's feature is a $27,000 NW1X Allowance at a mile and one-sixteenth on the green.
Post time is scheduled for 2:41 pm. Live coverage on RadioStPete.com including track announcer Jason Beam starts at 2:38 pm.

THE BET:  $20 to win on ST. JOE LOUIS (8) and a $2 exacta box with FEBRUARY SON (2) and MR. KRINGLE (6).
Exacta Box: 2,6,8
Total Bet $32, GOOD LUCK!

PREVIOUS RESULTS;  1/12/22:  Had the winner, got first and third in the exacta. Collected $30 on the $42 total bet, a loss of $12. The bankroll is now $1,125.40.

Friday's Gulfstream; Rainbow 6 Jackpot Hit (Again)

Gulfstream's Friday card will feature 10 races on the card with no stakes races planned.

First post time is 12:30 PM. There are no carryovers to wager on Friday.

In Thursday's racing action, 74 starters ran in 10 races. There were no turf races as two were taken off the turf and run on the Tapeta All Weather Track.

The Rainbow 6 Jackpot was hit by a single ticket winner, which paid $159,442.38.

Race 8 was the hard handicap as Oriental Trigger at 25:1 won the race by 2-1/2 lengths. The favorite Disc Jockey finished 5th. January 7th the Rainbow 6 was hit for $1.2 million as we reported on this blog on our January 8th post.

The rainbow carryover sets back to zero on Friday. But Gulfstream guaranteed a $50,000 pool if the wagering is less than that. That's very unlikely by prior betting trends, but possible none-the-less.

Rainbow 6 wagering was $121,363 Friday, while the All-Sources track handle was $6.83 million.

Thursday, January 13, 2022

Gulfstream's Thursday Racing; 12:30 PM Post Time

Gulfstream Park has a ten-race program on Thursday, with first post at 12:30 p.m.

The card has no stakes races. A big attraction is the Rainbow 6, with a carryover of  $62,418.

The 20 cents per-combination-only bet is on races five to ten  with the sequence scheduled to start at 2:31 p.m.

On Wednesday there were 104 tickets with the winners of all six Rainbow 6  races.  Each of those tickets won $561.24 on the 20 cent bet.

Program numbers of the six winning horses were 8-5-1-8-5-9.  Three winners were favorites.  Two others were sent off at 5-1 and one winner was 4-1.

Wagering  on the Rainbow 6 was $ 104,683. Per its rules on days with multiple tickets that have all six winning horses, Gulfstream took out 20 percent.  It then divided 56 percent among tickets with six winners and added 25 percent to the carryover.

On days with just one ticket that has all six winners, Gulfstream takes out 20 percent of the day's Rainbow 6 bet. It then pays the "jackpot"  of 80 percent of the day's bet and  the entire coming in carryover to the winning ticket holder/

BAUER'S WEDNESDAY BETS: FAST & FIRM at TAMPA

 By Bob Bauer

Wednesday's nine race card starts this week's action at the Oldsmar oval. The first Post time is scheduled for 12:20 PM.

Today's feature, Race 5, presents a compact but competitive group of older Fillies and Mares. They will run a mile on the grass under $27,000 NW1X conditions. Horse players could make a case for each runner here.

Post time is 2:18 PM. Live coverage on RadioStPete.com, including the call from track announcer Jason Beam starts at 2:15 pm.

IN ITALIAN (2) from the Chad Brown barn gets top billing. This lightly raced four year old Filly (only two tries) has shown ability both times. Last March 28th, she missed by only a neck at eight and one-half furlongs on the Tampa turf, after some traffic issues along the way. Samy Camacho was aboard then and returns here.

Following that, she went to Belmont on May 8, where she wired a classy group of $90,000 Maiden Special runners. This daughter of Irish sire DUBAWI cost over $600,000 as a baby and she has performed as the real thing, so far. She returns to Tampa today to get this Allowance win and then go after bigger prizes later this season. The 249 day layoff is a concern, but Brown wins at a robust 28% clip after a 90 day absence.

THE BET  $20 to win on IN ITALIAN (2) and a $5 exacta box with JEAN V'S LEGACY (5)
2,5.
Also, a $2 exacta box with those two and JOYUS TIMES (4)2,4,5    Total Bet $42
~
GOOD LUCK!!

We were close, but didn't cash. The win and place wager was third, had first and third in the exacta. Lost $32, the bankroll is now $1,137.40.

Gulfstream's Wednesday Racing; Carryovers

Gulfstream Park plans 10 races today, as it opens its weekly race schedule through Sunday.
There are no stakes races today.

It's race day 28 of the Championship Meet that began December 3rd.

The Rainbow 6 enters today with a carryover of $37,258, being run on races 5-10 with the sequence starting at approximately 2:31 PM.

The last race day, Sunday, there were 33 tickets with all winners of the Rainbow-6, each collecting $2,651.28 on the 20 cent bet. The highest odds winner was 17:1 in race 5. Four favorites won the Rainbow 6 races, while two races were taken off the turf that day.

Last weekend's race cards were interesting in that the Jackpot was hit on Friday with a $1.2 million payout. Then Saturday was a mandatory payout day; where 10 winners pocketed $100,823 each. It's quite rare for a jackpot hit just before a mandatory payout day; but it does happen. The Rainbow 6 "cycle" thus started anew Sunday with the $37,258 carryover coming into today.

Our guess is that Gulfstream will await the Pegasus Cup weekend; Jan. 29-30 for the next mandatory payout day.

Lastly, the Super Hi 5 wager has a carryover of $4,984 today; to be run in the first race with 7 or more starters.

BAUER'S SUNDAY BETS: FAST & FIRM at TAMPA

 By Bob Bauer

The weekend wraps up with a ten race card in Tampa, first Post time is scheduled for 12:14 PM.

Racing is conducted every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (except Easter), until closing day May 7.

Today's feature, Race 8, Post time 3:55, is a wide open mile on the green for newly turned three year-olds. Live coverage on RadioStPete.com, including track announcer Jason Beam starts at 3:52.

Tampa Bay Race Fans

All of these youngsters are seeking their second lifetime wins under $20,000 Claiming conditions. At this stage of their careers these sophomores are still developing and are capable of substantial improvement week by week and race by race.

The powerful Bennett barn has a longshot (6/1) who showed ability beating $25,000 Maiden Claimers at one mile and forty yards on December 17. MELINA'S DREAM (6) earned the best late pace figure in this field that day under veteran jock Fernando De La Cruz. Her sire GORMLEY (MALIBU MOON) has 23% success with first time turf starters. This gelding appears to be very sharp now and top trainer Gerald Bennett may have a live one here.

THE BET  $10 win and place on MELINA'S DREAM (6) and a $2 exacta box with PHAROAH'S PROPHECY (3) and FIERCE WARRIOR (9)          3,6,9       Total Bet $32     GOOD LUCK!!

PREVIOUS RESULTS:  1/8/22  Had the winner and the exacta. The win bet paid $74 and the exacta $37.40, a profit of $79.40 on the $32 wager. The bankroll is now $1,169.40

BAUER'S SATURDAY BETS: FAST & FIRM at TAMPA

Tampa fans have a ten race program on hand for Saturday, January 8th. The first Post time is scheduled for 12:14 PM.

Live racing continues tomorrow, Sunday January 9, same Post time. The Downs will race every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (except Easter) until closing for the season on May 7.

Today's play is in Race 7, Post time is 3:25 PM. Older Fillies and Mares will contest a grassy mile and one-sixteenth under $32,000 Optional Claiming NW2X conditions. Live coverage on RadioStPete.com, including track announcer Jason Beam starts at 3:22.

The pick here is BLEEKER STREET (3), an undefeated (2 for 2, both turf) four year-old Filly from the ultra powerful Chad Brown outfit. This may not be an easy spot for this gray miss, however.

To describe this field as salty might be an understatement. There is only a pair of four year-old Fillies entered here, the rest are older Mares.

These veteran runners will test our choice, most have multiple turf wins. Some are Stakes placed. The question is: can she handle the big girls?

Top tier turf trainer Chad Brown is one of the best in the business and is known for running his stock where they can win. Hector Diaz Jr., who has guided BLEEKER STREET (3) to both her scores, returns in the irons. This daughter of QUALITY ROAD may be a Filly with a future if she can beat these today. The depth of the competition is reflected by the Morning line. Our runner is 3/1, she might be an even money chalk against a lesser field.

THE BET:  $20 to win on BLEEKER STREET (3) and a $2 exacta box with PYTHONESS (2) and BRAMBLE BAY (4):
2,3,4     Total Bet: $32       GOOD LUCK!!

PREVIOUS RESULTS: 1/7  Our choice won by daylight, but we missed the exacta. Collected $146 on the win and place wagers, a profit of $94 on the $52 in total bets. The bankroll is now $1,090.

* Canelo (30:1) winning by 3-3/4 lengths over favorite Eagle Chief.

There was just one odds-on-favorite winner in the last 6 races; MICROPHONE in race 5 at 1.6:1.

ATLANTIC PRINCESS (4) from the leading Bennett barn, has a lot to like in this contest. She has tallied a trio of wins at the Oldsmar oval, from four attempts. All of her scores were against better rivals than she faces here. This is the first time she drops into $5,000 company, a strong angle in this situation. Gerald Bennett, Tampa's training champ several times, has given this one four local works since November 21. He wins at a 23% clip with runners who return after a layoff of ninety days or more. This filly has been away since early September and appears to be ready for a top effort.
