Gulfstream's Spring Meet Ends; 1:00 PM Post

Gulfstream plans an 11 race card today, with first post at 1:00 pm. 

Today concludes the Spring racing meet which began April 4. Tomorrow will start the Summer meet – continuing through September 29. Gulfstream and Tampa Bay are required to run races on the last and first days of their fiscal years: June 30 – July 1st.

Gulfstream will require a mandatory payout on the Late Pick 4 (4:55 Post), Pick 5 (4:20 Post), and Rainbow 6 (3:45 Post) today, so look for some increased action there.

There one stakes race today: The Kodiak Island Stakes, 5-1/2 furlongs on the dirt in race 2. Positively Awesome is the M/L favorite at 8:5.

The Weather Channel forecasts a 15-35% chance of rain and thunderstorms during race hours, similar to yesterday when all races were taken off the turf.

109 starters ran 14 races Saturday, with 6 favorites winning their races. Take Command won the CarryBack Stakes at 9:1, while Stormy Embrace nailed the Princess Rooney Stakes as the favorite. Diamond Oops (7:1) won the Smile Sprint Stakes by 3/4 length over the favorite Jalen Journey. 
 
The Rainbow 6 paid $1,118.76 Saturday to 42 bettors. 

The carryover for today is $32,340. The Super Hi-5 wager carryover is $3,037 and most likely will be available in race 1 with 10 entries listed.

2019 Summit of Speed; 11:30 AM First Post

Gulfstream plans a big 14 race card today, with first post at 11:30 a.m. at it's Hallandale Beach, Fla. track.

 Summit of Speed 2019 will host 5 Stakes races; 4 dirt and one turf-based. Thirty-eight entries are listed. All races are 5,6 or 7 furlong runs.

The Weather Channel forecasts a 35-50% chance of rain and thunderstorms during race hours, which could pose a wagering challenge for the 4 dirt races starting in race 6 at a 2:15 PM Post.
 
Seventy-Two starters ran 9 races Friday, with just one favorite winning their races. Two races were taken off the turf; races 7 and 9.


As reported Friday, the Rainbow 6 was reset when it was won in dramatic fashion in Thursday's racing. Bettors added $50,983 to the initial pool, and approximately 83 bettors collected $343.48 on the wager.

The Saturday carryover is $12,224. Races 7 and 9 were given the "ALL" for the late race wagers, so that made it easier to cash the multiple race ticket.

The winning program numbers were 3-7-4-ALL-3-ALL.

Rainbow 6 Hit for $3.1 Million; Friday's Racing 2:15 Post

Gulfstream plans a 9 race card starting at 2:15 PM today for it’s Friday twilight racing schedule. Five turf races are planned. Last post is 6:34 PM, with free Reggae music from 7-11 PM in the Sport of Kings Lounge on level 3.

A normal ho-hum summer Thursday turned very exciting after the third race, when Responding to Global won the 4th race at 12:1 – the start of the Rainbow 6. That was followed by Sweetheart Deal’s win of the 6th in the 2-year-old run at 26:1. Then the last race win by I Turn A Night Up at 8.7:1 odds was the clincher.


That combination of wins was enough to ferret out a single winner in the Rainbow 6 wager. The single winning 20 cent wager took down the carryover of $2,873,391 from Sunday’s racing, PLUS 80% of today’s pool of $347,510. Gulfstream’s takeout is 20% on the Rainbow 6.

The winning post numbers were 4-8-7-3-2-4. Before tax: $3,151,249.04, enough to buy some quality race horses!


Our records from the Equibase™ charts show this as the largest Rainbow 6 payoff in at least 3-1/2 years.


The next highest payoff was May 10th, 2018 where $1,214,281 was hit. That was also a Thursday race day. Gulfstream will likely deliver a more detailed report on the win.

We feel it’s a big syndicate that went “all in” or close to that on the race card. With 54 starters, it would cost $100,000 to cover all combinations of the wager ($99,792 to be exact); The math: 498,960 twenty-cent wagers. Our congratulations to the winner or winners on this very tough wager in thoroughbred racing.


The Rainbow 6 wager will start fresh Friday with no carryover. The mandatory payout still stands to be done on Sunday afternoon, regardless of the carryover or number of winners.
We expect wagering to be light this early in the Rainbow 6 cycle, except perhaps Saturday’s Summit of Speed races.


The Late Pick 5 paid handsomely too: $24,707 and the Pick 4 paid $10,808.
The sole Friday carryover will be the Super Hi-5 wager in race 1 with $4,339.

Thursday's Gulfstream Racing 1:15 PM Post Time

Gulfstream plans a 9 race card starting at 1:15 PM today at it's Hallandale Beach, Fla. track. Five turf races are planned (1,3,5,7,9), and a solo two-year-old race in a dirt 5 furlong run in race 6.
Stunning Munning is the ML favorite at 5:1. It's a maiden claimer for fillies and mares. 

No stakes races are scheduled. Rain chance stands at 15% during the race hours.

The Rainbow 6 wager will start at 2:45 PM in race 4. The growing carryover is an outstanding payday of $2,873,391 to a single winning 20-cent wager.

As we enter the last race week of the Spring meet, the track will payout all the Rainbow money on Sunday, June 30th to a single or multiple winners in a mandatory payout on the last day of the Spring racing meet.


Sunday's Recap

Ninety-Nine starters ran 12 races Sunday, with 4 favorites winning their races. The Rainbow 6 payoff was $1,855 to about 110 winners. 

The wagering has continued a slow-steady climb on the Rainbow 6; the $367,000 bet Sunday was the highest since June 2 (also a Sunday). Look for a BIG increase on Saturday if the bet is not hit before then.

Gulfstream to Pay Out Rainbow 6 on June 30

The carryover on the Gulfstream Park Rainbow 6 has grown to $2,683,444 for Saturday.

First post is12:45 p.m. for a12-race card. The Rainbow 6, a 20-cent per combination only bet, is on races  seven to12 with the sequence scheduled to start at  3:52 p.m.

Meanwhile, Gulfstream has set Sunday June 30 as a mandatory payout day for the carryover on its Rainbow 6.

Gulfstream has not yet made an announcement on when it will close the Rainbow 6 carryover.

But on Friday, Gulfstream officials told HorseRacingFLA that June 30 will be the date.

And the carryover, now 50 race days old, could be as high as $3.5 million if it is not “taken down” by a single winning ticket prior to that day.

On June 30, Gulfstream will pay out its Rainbow 6 jackpot/carryover—regardless of the number of  tickets with the winning horses in all six Rainbow  6  races.

That jackpot consists of the entire going-in carryover plus 80 percent of the day’s new Rainbow 6 bets.

Gulfstream usually pays it out only on days when there is just one  ticket with the winners  of all six Rainbow  6 races.

On days with multiple  winning tickets Gulfstream  takes out  20 percent,  divides 56 percent  among tickets with the most  winners (almost always six) and  adds 24  percent  to the carryover.

On Friday the carryover coming in was $2,616,516.

Bettors  added $278,925  to the Rainbow  6 pool.

There were fourteen tickets with all six  winners. Each was paid $11,316.20 on the 20-cent-only bet.

Numbers of the winning  horses were 8-4-1-11-6-4, on races four through nine.

Blue Magic (4) in the fifth race, at 12-1, was the only Rainbow 6 winner at double digit odds.

That race was the first race in Friday’s Late Pick 5. The  payoff for the minimum 50 cent bet was $18,512.10.

Saturday is the 50th day of the 55-day Gulfstream spring meet.

There will be a mandatory payout on June 30, regardless of whether the carryover is taken down prior  to then.

If the carryover is five or  fewer days old, June 30 betting on the Rainbow 6  might be as much as $1 million.

But if the carryover continues  until June  30, it could be as much as $3.5 million.

 In that case, we expect that between $7 million and $10 million would be bet on the Rainbow 6. And 80 percent of that money plus the entire carryover will be divided among  tickets with the most winners (probably six).

Gulfstream will begin its Summer Meet on Thursday July 4.

A Florida law requires pari-mutuels to obtain an exemption from the Florida Division of Pari-Mutuel Wagering in order to extend a carryover to a next meet.

Gulfstream Fast and Firm for 12-Race Saturday Card

Gulfstream Park has a112-race card on Saturday with first post at 12:45 p.m.

Conditions are listed as Fast and Firm, and the Weather Channel forecast is for just a 15 percent chance of rain during racing hours.

There are no stakes races on the card.

The carryover on the Rainbow 6 is $2,683,444.  

The Rainbow 6, a 20-cent per combination-only bet is on races seven to 12, with the  sequence scheduled to start at 3:52 p.m.

GP Friday-- 2:15 First Post, Carryover at $2.6 Milion

Gulfstream Park  has a nine-race card on Friday, with first post of 2:15 p.m.

The Rainbow 6 carryover has grown to $2,616,516.

It will be on Friday’s fourth  to ninth races, with the sequence scheduled to start at 3:52  p.m.

The first race has a Super Hi-5 carryover of $7,420.

On Thursday, there were just two  tickets with all six winners in the Rainbow 6, and each was paid $84,316.34 on the 20-cent per combination only bet.

The fact that there were  multiple winning tickets extends the  Rainbow 6  carryover into a 49^th day. HorseRacing FLA’S review of Equibase charts indicates that is Gulfstream’s longest-running Rainbow 6 carryover at least since 2015.

The winning program numbers for Thursday’s Rainbow 6  were 1-8-2-2-7-3.

There were just two winning tickets largely because of  wins by longshots Sweet Story, at 19-1, in the eighth race and Toss, at 13-1, in the tenth and final race.

Odds on the other four winning horses were between even money and 5-1.

The carryover coming into Thursday was $2.544,245.

Bettors added $301.165 to the Rainbow 6 pool.

Gulfstream took out  20 percent of the new bets. It then divided 56 percent of those bets among the two winning  tickets and added 24 percent to the carryover.

Gulfstream pays out the Rainbow 6 jackpot (full carryover plus 80 percent of new bets) only on days when there is just one ticket with all six winners.

On Thursday, it came very close to the jackpot being “taken down”.

Going into the tenth and last  race there were 61 live  Rainbow 6 tickets.  It turned out that only two of those tickets had Toss, who led at every call in winning the one mile turf claiming race for 3-year-olds and up.

Going into the tenth race, there was just one ticket with a horse singled. That was on Salute and Serve, who never threatened and finished seventh in the 11-horse filed

If Salute and Serve had won, that ticket would have paid just under $2.8 million.

What’s Ahead

The Gulfstream spring meet will end on Sunday June 30,

When Gulfstream Park resumes its spring meet on Thursday By it will have a 48-day old carryover of $2,544,245 on its Rainbow 6. 

And with just eight race  days left in that meet, there are expectations that the carryover will continue and will not be “taken down”  by a single ticket with the winners of all six Rainbow 6 races.

Thus, to end  the  carryover Gulfstream will soon announce a “mandatory payout day” on which it  will pay out the carryover even if there are multiple  tickets with  all  six  winners.

As noted below, it is likely that  Gulfstream will select Saturday June 29 for the mandatory payout.

Thursday Card

First post is 1:15 p.m. for Thursday’s ten-race card.

The Rainbow 6 is on races five through ten with the sequence scheduled to  start at 3:15  p.m.

The carryover is 48 racing days old. That is the number of days on which there have been multiple  tickets  with the winners  of all six Rainbow 6 races.

Gulfstream pays out the carryover plus 80 percent of a  day’s new bets on the Rainbow 6 only on days when there is just one ticket with the winners of all six races.

On Sunday,  Gulfstream’s most recent race day, there were eleven tickets with all six winners. Each ticket paid $12,532.92 on the 20-cent only bet.

Bettors added $246,242 to the Rainbow 6. Per its rules on days with multiple winning tickets, Gulfstream took out 20 percent of that amount.  It then divided 56 percent among the tickets with six winners and added 24 percent to the carryover,

Rainbow 6 Opener Won by 5-2 Shot

Accountant Q (10), at 5-2, won Gulfstream's seventh race to start the Saturday Rainbow 6.

Bettors added $343,069 to the Rainbow 6 pool.  The carryover coming in was $2,402,864.

Rainbow 6 Coming Up

Skies are clear at Gulfstream as the 3:52 scheduled  post approaches for the seventh race and the start of the Rainbow 6.

The Weather Channel is forecasting that the chance of rain will rise from 20 percent to 60  percent by 6 p.m.--when two  races are still left on the card.

Whiskey Moment (1) is at 6-5 in the sixth race and could be a horse to single in the Rainbow 6.

Supercommittee Wins GP Feature

Supercommittee (7), at 7-2 odds, won Saturday's $100,000 Ginger Punch Stakes at Gulfstream Park.

She was followed by Midnight Soiree (1), the 3-1favorite, and Passion Plus (3) at 7-1.

The race was for Florida-bred fillies and mares at 1 1/16 miles on the dirt track listed as Muddy. It was moved off the turf due to wet  conditions.

Victor Lebron rode Supercommittee who won in 1:45.40.

Gulfstream Track Now Muddy

With the fourth race coming up, the Gulfstream dirt track has been downgraded from Sloppy to Muddy.

The Rainbow  6 is on races  seven to  12, with the sequence scheduled to begin at  3:52 p.m.  The carryover, now 45  days old. is $2,402,684.

Due to scratches, mainly weather-related, the number of starters for the  six races has been reduced to 51--a low number for the Rainbow 6 on a Saturday.

More so than on most days,  it likely will take two or  even three longshot winners to result in just one ticket with all Rainbow 6 winners (i.e. the requirement for a bettor to take down the carryover.)

Many betting syndicates are playing the Rainbow 6 and will be going deep in many races.  Along with smaller bettors, they will be doing off-track handicapping and trying to find a horse that might be able to  take an early lead and steal  a race in the mud.

Gulfstream Off the Turf on Saturday

Due to periodic heavy rains over the last  several days, there will be  no  turf racing at  Gulfstream Park on Saturday.

The first, third, fifth, seventh, ninth and eleventh  races were  scheduled for the turf.  Those races have been moved to the dirt track that is  listed as Sloppy and is sealed.

First post is 12:45 p.m.  for  the  12-race card.  We will have a list  of  late scratches when it is available.

Gulfstream's Saturday: 12 Races, Rain, Rainbow 6

Gulfstream Park plans a 12:45 first post today, with rain and thunderstorms expected during most of the racing.

There is one stakes races listed. It’s the $100,000 Ginger Punch Stakes, a 1-1/16 mile turf race for Fla.-bred 3 year fillies and mares.

Midnight Soiree is the M/L favorite at 5:2. It’s a 2:50 PM start with 11 entries listed, including also-eligibles.


Friday’s racing weather resulted in 2 of 4 races off turf. Just 67 starters ran 9 races, as the rains started in race 4. With the rain and sloppy-sealed track, the favorites had a hard time getting wins. None-the-less, the bettors were lucky in the late races – in number, not dollars! The Rainbow 6 payout below is not a typo!

Here are Friday’s late race payouts.
Late Pick 4 paid: $76.95
Late Pick 5 paid: 550.50
Rainbow 6 paid: $25.74 to about 5,500 winners.

The last low-pay here was Jan.24th at $23.22 to about 5,700 bettors. Two of 5 races were Off-Turf then.

The Rainbow 6 pool was $254,878, where GP paid out 56% to the multiple RB6 ticket holders.

GP Rainbow 6 Carryover Grows to $2.3 Million

When Gulfstream Park resumes racing on Thursday, it will have a Rainbow 6 carryover of $2,288,394.

First post will be 1:15 p.m. for Thursday’s nine-race card. The Rainbow 6 is on races four to nine with the sequence scheduled to start at 2:45 p.m.

The six races have 47 entrants— relatively low for the Rainbow 6.

Four of those races are claiming and two are maiden special weight.

Thursday’s first race has a Super Hi-5 carryover of $3,730.
On Friday, Gulfstream will have nine races with first post of 2:15 p.m.

Entries are not yet out for this coming Saturday or Sunday.

The Condition Book shows one stakes race for Saturday and no stakes races for Sunday.

The Saturday stakes is the $100,000 Ginger Punch at 1 1/16 miles on turf for Florida-bred 3-year-old fillies.

Gulfstream's Sunday Racing

Gulfstream plans an 11 race card on Sunday, with the first post at 1:15 PM at the Hallandale, Florida track. 

There’s a 20-35% chance of rain within the thunderstorms during racing hours.

The sole carryover on the day will by the Rainbow 6 bet, with $2.22 million up for grabs to a single ticket winner. 



On Saturday, mostly low-odds wins in the last 6 races made for a $981.44 payoff on the Rainbow to about 200 winners. 

All but one race was taken off the turf Saturday, but that did not result in any ling-shot wins. 

Fifty horses competed in the Rainbow sequence races, with 8 scratches recorded.
 
The late Pick 4 paid $196.40, the Pick 5 paid $258.45.

Belmont Stakes: Tacitus is Our Pick

The Belmont Stakes is coming up at 6:37 p.m. Eastern, and we find it hard to see a horse other  than Tacitus or War of Will winning the race.

That view is based on their strong performances in Triple Crown races and their overall records. compared with today's rivals.

We like Tacitus to win because he seems better suited than War of Will to today's 1 1/2 mile distance--with War of Will finishing second.

We like Tax, Sir Winston, Everfast and Master Fencer for use in the second spot in exacta part wheels and in deeper exotic bets.

Gulfstream Park plans a 12:35 first post today, as it enters day 41 of the Spring-Summer meet.

There is one stakes races listed. It’s the Soldier’s Dancer Stakes, in race 10 – a $100,000 Florida-bred 3 year-old on the turf course at 1-1/16 miles.
The co-favorites on this race are Galleon Mast and Jay’s Way, both at 2:1 ML odds. Plan on a 5:15 PM Post.
One snag weather-wise is the 60%+ chance of rain with thunderstorms during racing hours. That weather led to 3 off-turf races on Friday. That could change the complexion of the day for bettors and on-site fans also.


In Friday’s racing action, 59 starters ran 9 races, with four favorites entering the winners circle. With the rain and sloppy-sealed track after race 4, surprisingly no long-odds horses won. No wining horse was higher than 2.7:1, which watered down the payouts a lot.

Gulfstream Ffriday Preview

Friday, June 7—Gulfstream  Park  has a nine-race card today with first post at  2:15  p.m.

That will be  the first post time at Gulfstream on “twilight racing” Fridays  through Aug. 30.

Today’s card has a Rainbow 6 carryover that is 41 race  days old and has grown to $2,095,630.

The  Rainbow  6,  a  20-cent  per combination only  bet, is on  races  four  through nine  with the  sequence  scheduled to start  at  3:52 p.m.

The featured seventh race is the $75,000 Portofino Bay Stakes at 7 ½  furlongs on turf for 3-year-old fillies.

As part of its regular simulcast menu, Gulfstream will have today’s Belmont Park card which includes five stakes races.

Gulfstream will simulcast Saturday’s Belmont Park  card with the Belmont Stakes (Grade 1) and nine  other  stakes  races.  Scheduled post  for the Belmont Stakes is  6:37  p.m. Eastern.

In Wednesday's racing action, a special added race day to their normal Thursday - Sunday meet schedule - 58 starters ran 8 races, with two favorites entering the winners circle.

No favorite finished worse than fourth, which led to smalish 
payouts.

A 5:1 win by Marcelino in the 4th race over favorite Honolulu Express in a $20k claimer was the day's upset win. Travelin Gambler at 2:1 won the sole 2 year-old race in the 5th; a $50,000 claimer.
Forty-six horses competed in the Rainbow 6 races (#3-8), and the growing carryover surpasses $2 million to start today. 

Here are Wednesday's late race payouts.

Late Pick 4 paid: $116.15
Late Pick 5 paid: $564.25
Rainbow 6 paid: $623.90 to approx. 216 winners.

The Rainbow 6 pool wagering was $241,465. Today starts day 39 of this Spring-Summer meet, and day 40 of the Rainbow 6 Carryover.

The last single winning Jackpot payout was way back on February 15 for $227,506. Gulfstream paid out all the money in their mandatory payout session on Florida Derby Day, March 30th. Since then, the jackpot has grown.

Gulfstream's Special Wednesday Race Card Has Rainbow 6 Carryover Near $2 Million

Gulfstream Park has  added today, Wednesday  June  5, as a live  racing day and the biggest attraction is  a Rainbow 6 carryover  that has grown to $1.977,433.

Conditions are  listed  as Fast  and Firm for  the eight-race card. with first post at 1:15 p.m.

The  Rainbow 6, a 20-cent  per combination only bet, is on races  three to  eight  with  the  sequence scheduled  to start at 2:15 p.m.

Barring late  scratches, there will be 49 starters in the Rainbow  6  races.

That is  a low number  for the  Rainbow 6. Many syndicates will undoubtedly be going deep in many races, and likely going ALL in some races

That decreases the chances of there being just one ticket  with the winners  of all six races.

The carryover is now  38 days old--the number of days without the jackpot/carryover payoff requirement of just  one  ticket with the winners  of all six Rainbow  6 races.

Today's  Rainbow 6  lineup consists of  five claiming races and one maiden claiming  race.

A look at Gulfstream's Sunday Card

A Rainbow 6  carryover that has grown to almost $1.9 million and a one mile dirt stakes for older  horses are highlights  of Sunday's 12-race card at  Gulfstream Park.


First  post is  1:15 p.m. and conditions  are listed  as Fast and Firm,

The carryover  is  $1,887,345 on the  Rainbow  6,  which is a 20 cents per combination only bet. It is on races six to eleven, with the sequence set to start at 3:52 p.m.

The  10th  race  feature is the $75,000 Big Red Stakes.  Mr. Jordan and Hy Riverside are likely favorites  in the six-horse  field.
