Gulfstream Park will run nine races Friday, with a first post at 12:45 p.m.

The only carryover is on the Rainbow 6, at $261,735. The 20 cents per combination-only bet is on races four to nine, with the sequence scheduled to start at 2:23 p.m.

On Thursday, 31 winners collected $1,637.70 each on this wager. Race 7 was the long-odds trip when Ha' Penny (7:1) won by 2 lengths. The favorite Dia Del Sol (2.4:1) finished 5th. Two favorites won in the Rainbow 6 races.

Betting on the Rainbow 6 was $90,038 in day 24 of this current meet.

All sources track handle was $4.19 million Thursday.

The only carryover is on the Rainbow 6, at $159,120. The 20 cents per combination-only bet is on races four to nine, with the sequence scheduled to start at 2:43 p.m.

On Thursday, 9 winners collected $6,205.64 each on this wager. Race 3 was the long-odds trip when Starship Abraham (30:1) beat out the favorite Stat (8:5) by 1-1/4 lengths. Two favorites won in the Rainbow 6 races.

Betting on the Rainbow 6 was $99,776 in day 21 of this current meet.

Gulfstream Park's Week of Racing

 

Gulfstream Park will start its 4 day race week Thursday, with an 8 race agenda, and a 1:05 PM first post time. Last post is about 4:55 PM at the Hallandale, Fla. race track.

No stakes races are planned.

In Sunday's racing action - the last live racing day - 76 starters competed for $405,000 in purse money in 10 races.

Bettors wagered $5.94 million in total handle from all-sources.

Five favorites won their races, three of them in the Rainbow 6 races (the last 6 races each day). The Rainbow 6 wager garnered $110,443 in bets, with a payout of $319.76 to each of 193 bettors.

Since no single winner emerged, the Rainbow 6 will have a carryover Thursday of $135,184. 


Gulfstream is seeding the existing carryover with a $200,000 minimum guarantee gross (before takeout) pool for Thursday's Rainbow 6 wager. The Super Hi-5 wager has a carryover of $4,358. That is a $1.00 wager to be run in the first race with 7 or more starters.

The only carryover is on the Rainbow 6, at $70,995. The 20 cents per combination-only bet is on races four to nine, with the sequence scheduled to start at 2:21 p.m. Forty-nine horses are listed as starters in the 6 races, barring scratches later today.

On Thursday, 17 winners collected $1,648.62 each on this wager. Race 3 was the long-odds trip with a 5:1 win. No favorites won in the Rainbow races.

Betting on the Rainbow 6 was $49,408.
All sources track handle was $3.80 million Thursday.

Thursday's Gulfstream Racing; Carryovers

Gulfstream Park will host eight races on Thursday, with first post at 1:05 p.m, and continue the race week through Sunday.

There are no stakes races slated for Thursday.

Two carryovers will be on the card however. The Rainbow 6, at $59,139. The 20 cents per combination-only bet is on races three to eight, with the sequence scheduled to start at 2:11 p.m.

Gulfstream is guaranteeing that Thursday's Rainbow 6 will have a $100,000 gross pool of the entire coming in carryover plus all of the days Rainbow 6 bets - to be paid if there is just one ticket with the winners of all six Rainbow 6 races.


If there are multiple tickets with all six winning horses,  Gulfstream will take out 20 percent. It will then divide 56 percent among tickets with six winners and add 24 percent to the carryover.

On the last race day, Sunday, there were 27 Rainbow 6 winners, each paid $1,870.16 on the 20-cent bet. Forty-seven starters entered the gates for that wager, while the high-odds winner was 4.2:1 in the 8th race. All three turf races were moved to the All-Weather surface Sunday.

The Super Hi-5 wager carryover is $3,754, and is available as a wager in the first race with 7 or more starters.

Betting on the Rainbow 6 Sunday was $92,800, while total all-sources track handle was $5.31 million.

Saturday's Gulfstream Racing; 1:05 PM Post Time

 Gulfstream Park has an eleven-race card scheduled for Saturday. First post is at 1:05 PM.


The dirt track and turf track are listed as Fast and Firm respectively.

There are no stakes races on the card. The sixth through eleventh races are the Rainbow 6 races, starting at approximately 3:49 PM.

The only carryover is on the Rainbow 6 at $10,672. Saturday is the second day of the carryover since the jackpot was hit on Thursday.

In Friday's racing action, 125 winners hit the Rainbow 6, each pocketing a miserly $199.38. Two favorites won in the Rainbow 6 races, and the odds of the winners were between 0.5:1 to 2.8:1, with the outlier being 5:1 in race 9.

Bettors added $44,484 to the wagering, with 40 horses running in the Rainbow 6.
 
Total all-sources track handle was $3.64 million.

Friday's Gulfstream Racing; 9 Races - 1:05 Post Time

 

Gulfstream Park will run nine races Friday, with a first post at 1:05 p.m.

No stakes races are planned as we approach the Kentucky Derby next weekend, May 7th.

 

On Thursday, a single winner collected on the Rainbow 6 wager, earning $182,098.62.

The carryover coming into Thursday was $130,033. Wagering was $65,091 on the Rainbow 6. After the tracks 20% takeout, that left $52,073 to add to the carryover for the pool size. That totals the $182,100 or so for the jackpot win.

Race 7 was the long-odds trip when Sara Mia (9:1) won by a neck in the 6 horse field. The favorite finished 3rd. One
favorite won in the Rainbow races. Program winner numbers were: 9-1/3/6-6-1-4-10.

This was just day 6 on the racing days since the last Rainbow Jackpot on April 16th. The Carryover is reset to zero Friday, but Gulfstream is guaranteed at least $50,000 gross pool for Friday's wagering.

All sources track handle was $3.32 million Thursday, the lowest tally this meet thus far that started April 7th.

 Gulfstream Park will start its 4 day race week Thursday, with an 8 race agenda, and a 1:05 PM first post time. Last post is about 4:50 PM at the Hallandale, Fla. race track.

In Sunday's racing action - the last live racing day - 78 starters competed for $343,000 in purse money in 10 races.

Bettors wagered $6.80 million in total handle from all-sources.

Four favorites won their races, three of them in the Rainbow 6 races (the last 6 races each day). The Rainbow 6 wager garnered $133,117 in bets, with a payout of $584.66 to each of 127 bettors.

Since no single winner emerged, the Rainbow 6 will have a carryover today of $130,033.

Gulfstream Park end it's four day racing week today, planning 10 races.

First post time is 1:05 PM.
No stakes races are planned on the Sunday card.

Two carryovers are on the card. The Rainbow 6 wager at $98,087. It will begin with race 5 at approximately 3:15 PM. The Super Hi-5 carryover is $7,480.20 in race 1 with the 1:05 PM post.

In Saturday's racing action, $133,058 was bet on the Rainbow 6, with  the payout of $7,609.40 to each of 10 winners. No one had 6 of 6, so that payout was for 5 of 6 correct finishers. Two winners at 15:1 odds was a tough hurdle to handicap!

Total handle from all wagering sources was $8.69 million.

The two carryovers are on the Rainbow 6 at $66,160 and the Super Hi 5 at $7,153. The 20 cents per-combination only bet is on races six to eleven with the sequence scheduled to start at 3:50 p.m. The Super Hi-5 wager will take place in race 1 if seven or more starters enter the gate.

Gulfstream has a $150,000 Gross Pool guarantee on the Rainbow 6 wager if a single winner exists today. In Friday's action, just 2 winners split the Rainbow 6 money at $20,715.06 each.
Eamonn, at 14:1, won in race 5, which was the long-shot winner of the day. That was a tough handicap in the 6 race sequence to get right. 46 horses ran in the Rainbow 6.

Rainbow 6 wagering was $73,984, and the total all-souces handle on the day was $5.04 million.

The only carryover is on the Rainbow 6, at $48,404. The 20 cents per combination-only bet is on races four to nine, with the sequence scheduled to start at 2:43 p.m. Fifty horses are listed as starters in the 6 races, barring scratches later today.

The Weather Channel forecast is a 15 percent odds of rain during racing hours. A wind advisory of 20 mph also is forecast.

On Thursday, 6 winners collected $5,604.38 each on this wager. Race 4 was the long-odds trip when Morning Colors (11:1) took the win. The favorite finished 5th. Two favorites won in the Rainbow races. Program winner posts were: 2-8-4-6-4/5-2/5.

Betting on the Rainbow 6 was $58,074, to be expected with the carryover 2 days old in this cycle.

The only carryover is on the Rainbow 6, at $34,473. The 20 cents per combination-only bet is on races three to eight, with the sequence scheduled to start at 2:11 p.m.

Gulfstream is guaranteeing that Thursday's Rainbow 6 will have a $50,000 gross pool of the entire coming in carryover plus all of today's  Rainbow 6 bets - to be paid if there is just one ticket with the winners of all six Rainbow 6 races.



If there are multiple tickets with all six winning horses,  Gulfstream will take out 20 percent. It will then divide 56 percent among tickets with six winners and add 24 percent to the carryover.

On the last race day, Sunday, there were 85 Rainbow 6 winners, paid $948.66 on the 20  cent bet. There were no 6 of 6 winners, so the payout rolled down to 5 of 6. Lavery in the 8th race won at 23:1; that no doubt was the knock-out punch to a 6 of 6 win day.

Betting on the Rainbow 6 was $143,679, while total all-sources handle was $9.15 million.

Tampa Bay Resumes Wednesday with 9 Races

After being dark for three straight days,  Tampa Bay Downs will resume live racing on  Wednesday with nine  races and first post at 12:40 p.m.

The Oldsmar. Fla., track did not have live racing on Sunday, in observance of Easter. Per its regular schedule, it was dark on Monday and Tuesday.

The only carryover on Wednesday is on the Pick 6 at $9,315. The 20 cents per- combination only bet will be on races four to  nine with the sequence set to start  at 2:14 p.m.

|Per its regular schedule, Tampa Bay wlll not have live racing this  Thursday. It will  then have live racing on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday's Gulfstream Racing; Two Carryovers

 

Gulfstream Park has an eleven-race card scheduled for Saturday under cloudy conditions with a 15% chance of rain during racing hours. Post time is 1:05 PM and last post is 6:32 PM.


 

There are no stakes races on the card.

The two carryovers are on the Rainbow 6 at $122,283 and the Super Hi 5 at $3,526. The 20 cents per-combination only bet is on races six to eleven with the sequence scheduled to start at 3:49 p.m. The Super Hi-5 wager is a $1.00 wager, and  will take place in race 1. Gulfstream has a $250,000 Gross Pool guarantee on the Rainbow 6 wager if a single winner exists today.

The Rainbow 6 carryover is 5 days old in the current Royal Palm Meet which runs through September.

Friday's racing saw 56 winners of the Rainbow 6, each pocketing $870.22. That wagering was $87,622, and the total all-souces handle on the day was $5.04 million. Good Luck !

The only carryover is on the Rainbow 6, at $101,259. The 20 cents per combination-only bet is on races four to nine, with the sequence scheduled to start at 2:43 p.m. One turf race is scheduled, Race 4; it's a one mile claiming race.



Rain has been falling on Friday morning at Gulfstream in Hallandale Beach, Fla. However as of   11:00 a.m. the dirt track and the All-Weather Tapeta track were  listed as  Fast and the turf  course was listed as Firm.

The Weather Channel forecast is for a chance of rain of  50 percent or higher during racing hours.

We will have updates on any changes in surface conditions.

On Thursday, 9 winners collected $4,319.46 each on this wager. Race 8 was the long-odds trip with a 9:1 winner. Just one favorite won in the Rainbow races. Interestingly, the prior Thursday (4/7) also saw race 8 with the long-shot winner at 9:1.


Betting on the Rainbow 6 was $69,433.  All sources track handle was $4.33 million.

Gulfstream will race Easter Sunday with a 1:05 PM Post Time. We'll report on the Saturday line-up tomorrow.

On Sunday, the last live racing day, there were 14 Rainbow 6 winners, paid $4,337.26 on the 20-cent bet. The high-odds winner was in race 9 at 8.8:1, while two favorites won in the Rainbow 6 races.

This is day 5 for this Rainbow 6 series that started April 7th, also the opening of the Palmetto Meet, which is scheduled to run through the end of September.

The sole carryover will be the Rainbow 6 wager at $58,965. It will begin with race 5 at approximately 3:15 PM.

In Saturday’s racing action, $115,835 was bet on the Rainbow 6, with  the payout of $1,029.74 to each of 63 winners.

Five favorites won on Saturday, two of them in the Rainbow 6 races. The long-odds winner was Fake ID in race 11, winning by 3-1/2 lenghts. The race favorite, Lee Ann’s Warrior (7:5), finished 9th in the 10 horse field.

Total handle from all wagering sources was $8.50 million.

Gulfstream: Fast and Firm for Saturday

Gulfstream Park has an eleven-race card scheduled for Saturday.


The dirt track and the all-weather Tapeta track are listed as Fast and the Turf course is listed as Firm. 
There are no stakes races on the card. The eighth through tenth are allowance/optional  claiming races.  The ninth has a $50,000 purse, and the other two have $51,000 purses.

The only carryover is on the Rainbow 6--at $31,184. The 20 cents per-combination only bet is on races six to eleven with the sequence scheduled to start at 3:44 p.m.

The carryover is two days-old, through the first two days of Gulfstream's championship meet which is officially known as the Royal  Palm Meet.

Gulfstream Park opened its Summer racing meet Thursday, and today will run nine races, with a first post at 1:05 p.m.

The only carryover is on the Rainbow 6, at $16,510. The 20 cents per combination-only bet is on races four to nine, with the sequence scheduled to start at 3:13 p.m.

On Thursday, 40 winners collected $967.92 each on this wager. Race 8 was the long-odds trip with a 9:1 winner. Four favorites won in the Rainbow races. Racing will be reduced by one day this meet, Thursday through Sunday with a few exceptions around the holidays.

Betting on the Rainbow 6 was $68,811, which was expected as this was the first racing day of the new meet. All sources track handle was $5.03 million.

Three Stakes Race Winners Compete in the Florida Derby Saturday

Three horses that have won stakes races in Florida this year head the field for Saturday's $1 million Florida Derby (Grade 1).

Those horses are Classic Causeway, White Abarrio and Simplification. They head a field of eleven horses that are entered for Saturday's running of the Florida Derby.


They were among the eleven 3-year-olds that on Wednesday were entered for the 1-1/8 mile dirt stakes.

A pair of 5 1/2 furlong  turf stakes are Saturday's co-feature races at Gulfstream Park.

The $75.0 Melody of Colors is for 3-year-old fillies.  It is the seventh race with scheduled post of  4:06 p.m.

The dirt track and the all-weather Tapeta track are listed  as Fast. The  tur is  listed as  Firm. 

The $75,000 Texas Glitter is for 3-year-old males.  It is the ninth race with scheduled post of 5:10 p.m.  

First post is 1:05 p.m. for an 11-race card.

The first race has a Super Hi-5  carryover of  $3,731.

The Rainbow 6  has a carryover of $284,731.

The 20 cents per-combination only bet is on races six to eleven, with the sequence scheduled to start at 3:35 p.m.

On Friday there were 75  Rainbow 6 tickets with  all 6 winning horses. Each of those tickets paid $1,107.60 om a 20-cent bet.

Wagering on the Rainbow  6 was $149,256. Of that Gulfstream took out 20 percent. It then divided 56 percent among the tickets with six winners and added  24 percent to the carryover.

Gulfstream  is guaranteeing that today's Rainbow 6 will have a $400,000 gross pool of the entire coming in carryover plus all of today's Rainbow 6 bets - to be paid if there is just one ticket with the winners of all six Rainbow 6 races.

If there are multiple tickets with all six winning horses, Gulfstream will take out 20 percent, then divide 56 percent among tickets with six winners and add 24 percent  to the carryover.

On Thursday, 44 winners collected $2,003.50 each on this wager. Race 5 was the long-odds trip with a 9:1 winner. Two favorites won in the Rainbow races.

Gulfstream announced a mandatory payout of all multiple race wagers on April 3rd, its final day of the meet. That will include the Late Pick 5, Rainbow 6, and Super HI-5.

Betting on the Rainbow 6 was $160,310. All sources track handle was $6.63 million.

On Wednesday, there were 55  Rainbow 6 winners, paid $1,096.56 on the 20  cent bet.

This is day 7 for this Rainbow 6 series that started March 16th. The Championship meet ends Sunday, April 3rd, with the Florida Derby scheduled on April 2nd.

BAUER'S BETS: TAMPA BAY DOWNS FESTIVAL DAY WAGER RESULTS

We had a very rewarding afternoon at the 42nd annual Festival Day, March 12. We managed to cash in three of the five Stakes races on the dozen race program. 


 In RACE 7, THE $200,000 GRADE 2, HILLSBOROUGH STAKES we had a $10 straight $17.80 exacta. Collected $178. from the $30 bet.

RACE 8, THE $100,000 GRADE 3 CHALLENGER STAKES was a $22 loss.

In RACE 9, THE $200,000 GRADE 2 FLORIDA OAKS gave a $2 exacta that paid $19.60. The total bet was $32.

In RACE 10, THE $75,000 COLUMBIA STAKES had a $2 exacta paying $112.20 and a $10 place wager returned $30. The total bet was $32.

RACE 11, THE $400,000 GRADE 2 TAMPA BAY DERBY, was a loss of $32. 

DAYS RESULTS:  3/12/22  Collected $339.80 on $148 in total bets; a profit of $191.80 or ROI of 130% for the day. The bankroll is now $1,173.70 from the start of the meet on November 24th of $1,000.

Spirit Wind Takes Any Limit Stakes at Gulfstream

Spirit Wind led at every call and beat One Identity by 2 1/2 lengths in Saturday's $100,000 Any Limit Stakes for 3-YO fillies at Gulfstream Park.

Spirit Wind, a daughter of Bahamian Squall, won the six  furlong dirt stakes in 1:11.43 on the dirt track that was listed as Fast.  Tyler  Gaffalione rode Spirit Wind for trainer Ralph Nicks and owner Jacks or  Better Farm.

The Any  Limit was the stakes debut for  Spirit Wind, and was her second win along with   a second place finish in three career starts.

Two other  $100,000 stakes are coming up at  Gulfstream.

The Silks Run is five furlongs on turf for 4-YOs and up.  It is the tenth race with scheduled post of 5:10 p.m.

The Hutcheson is six furlongs on dirt for 3-Yos.  It is the 11th race with sheduled post at  5:42 p.m.

We will have stories with results on Saturday night.

 


Rainbow 6 Opens With Win By 1-2 Favorite

Peace of  Ekati (5) the 1-2  favorite, beat Morning Stride by a head in Saturday's seventh race  at  Gulfstream Park.

The race was the first leg of the Rainbow 6,  with a coming-in carryover of $77,163. Bettors  added $248,146 to the Rainbow  6  pool.

Gulfstream's Saturday Racing; 3 Stakes Races

Gulfstream Park has a 12 race card on Saturday with a first post at 12:35 PM.



Conditons are listed as fast and firm.

There are 3 stakes races, all with $100,000 purses.

The Any Limit, for 3 y/o fillies is 6 fulongs on dirt; race 6.

The Silks Run, for fillies and mares 4 y/o and up, is 5 furlongs on turf, the tenth race.

Friday's Gulfstream Racing; 1:05 PM Post Time

 

Gulfstream Park  will run nine races on Friday, with first post at 1:05 p.m. It's day 75 of the Champion's meet than ends April 3.

The sole carryover is on the Rainbow 6 at $47,901. The 20 cents per combination-only bet is on races four to nine, with the sequence scheduled to start at 2:35 p.m.

Gulfstream  is guaranteeing that today’s Rainbow 6 will have a $150,000 gross pool of the entire coming in carryover plus all of today’s Rainbow 6 bets – to be paid if there is just one ticket with the winners of all six Rainbow 6 races.

If there are multiple tickets with all six winning horses,  Gulfstream will take out 20 percent, then divide 56 percent among tickets with six winners and add 24 percent  to the carryover.

On Thursday, 69 winners collected $925.66 each on this wager. Race 9 was the long-odds trip with the 10:1 winner Stand Up. The favorite finished 7th. Three favorites won in the Rainbow races.

Gulfstream began a new Rainbow 6 pool on Wednesday as the jackpot was hit last Sunday.

Betting on the Rainbow 6 was $114,354, while all sources track handle was $6.43 million.

GP Thursday: Nine Races, First Post at 1:05

Gulfstream Park  will have nine races on Thursday, with first post at 1:05 p.m.

The only  carryover is on the Rainbow 6, at  $20,464. The 20 cents per combination-only bet is on races four to nine, with the sequence scheduled too  start  at 2:35 p.m.


Gulfstream  is guaranteeing that Thursday's Rainbow 6 will have a gross  pool of the entire coming in carryover plus all of today's  Rainbow 6 bets - to be paid if there is just one ticket with the winners of all six Rainbow 6 races.

If there are multiple tickets with all six winning horses,  Gulfstream will take out 20 percent.  It will then divide 56 percent among tickets with six winners and add 24 percent  to the carryover.

On Sunday, there was just one ticket with all Rainbow 6 winners. It  paid $342,864 on the 20  cent bet.

Gulfstream was dark Monday and Tuesday.  It began a new Rainbow 6 pool on Wednesday.

Betting on the Rainbow 6 was $85,293. There were  nine  tickets with  all six winning horses. Each  of those tickets paid $5,305. Program  numbers of the winners (races three to eight) were 4-7-2-4-1-5.

Gulfstream: Eleven Sunday Races, First Post 12:35

Gulfstream Park will have eleven races on Sunday with first post of 12:35 p.m.

There are no stakes races on the card.  The dirt and all-weather Tapeta tracks are listed as Fast.   The turf is listed as Good.

The Rainbow 6 has a carryover of $154,651. The 20 cents per-combination only bet is on races six to eleven, with the sequence  scheduled to start at 3:05 p.m.

On Saturday,  Gulfstream had two stakes races--both for fillies and mares 4-YO and up.

Obligatory beat Bramble Berry by 3 1//2 lengths in the Hurricane Bertie Stakes at 6 1/2 furlongs on dirt.

Headline Hunter beat Miss Auramet by 2-1/2 lengths in the  Captiva Island Stakes. The five furlong stakes was scheduled for turf.  Because of rain on Saturday morning, Gulfstream ran the race on Tapeta.

BAUER'S SATURDAY BETS: FESTIVAL DAY at TAMPA BAY DOWNS

Festival Day is the Downs seasonal highlight, with a dozen races on the program. Five Stakes events are featured, capped by the $400,000 Grade 2 Tampa Bay Derby. First Post time is scheduled for 12:15 PM.

Track conditions as of 10:30 AM: The Downs took some rain early today. The main track is fast and the turf course appears to be good.

All the Stakes races will be covered live on RadioStPete.com, including the call from announcer Jason Beem. Air time is three minutes before Post time.

RACE 7, Post time 3:14, is the $225,000 Grade 2 HILLSBOROUGH STAKES for older Fillies and Mares at nine furlongs on turf. 

THE BET:  A $10 straight exacta part-wheel with BLEEKER STREET (5) on top of three runners ($30). LADY SPEIGHTSPEARE (3), ROCKY SKY (6) and RUNAWAY RUMOUR (7).  5/3,6,7 Total Bet $30

RACE 8, Post time 3:49, Four year-olds and up go eight and one-half furlongs on the main track in the $100,000 Grade 3 CHALLENGER STAKES.

THE BET:  $10 to win on WOLFIES DYNAGHOST (1) ($10). Also, a fifty cent four horse trifecta box ($12) with that one and GREATEST HONOR (3), DYNAMIC ONE (4) and CODY'S WORK (9) 1,3,4,9  Total Bet $22  

RACE 9, Post time 4:20, is the $200,000 Grade 3 FLORIDA OAKS for sophomore Fillies at eight and one half grassy furlongs.

THE BET: $10 to win and place ($20) on MRS. BARBARA (1). Also, a $2 three horse exacta box ($12) with that one and DOLCE DEL (3) and SPICER (6)  1,3,6   Total Bet $32

RACE 10, Post time 4:51, is the $75,000 COLUMBIA STAKES for three year-olds at a mile on turf. 

THE BET:  $10 win and place ($20) on BENS MALICE (1) and a $2 exacta part-wheel, up and down, with three horses, ($12) WOKE SURF (2), HEAVEN STREET (5) and KITTEN'S MISCHIEF (3). 1/2,3,5  2,3,5/1  Total Bet $32

RACE 11, Post time 5:23, is the $400,000 Grade 2 TAMPA BAY DERBY, for three year olds at a mile and one sixteenth. 

THE BET:  $10 win and place ($20) on BELGRADE (10) and a $2 three horse exacta box ($12) with that one and CLASSIC CAUSEWAY (4) and SLIPSATIONAL (9) 4,9,10 Total Bet $32 

PREVIOUS RESULTS:  3/11/22: Had the winner and exacta. Collected $60 for the win and $13.60 for the chalk exacta, a profit of $41.60 on the $32 bet. The bankroll is now 981.90 from the $1,000 start.



Gulfstream's Saturday Racing; Carryover

 Gulfstream Park plans a 12 race card Saturday.

First post time is 12:35 PM, while last race post is 6:12 PM.

Two stakes races are on the card:
Hurricane Bertie Stakes; 6-1/2 furlongs / dirt. Race 7 @ 3:35 PM.
Captiva Island Stakes; 5 furlongs / turf. Race 10 @ 5:10 PM.
Both are $100,000 purses, and open to Fillies and Mares 4 years and up.

The Rainbow 6 is the sole carryover Saturday. It is a $96,131 carryover. Gulfstream is again guaranteeing a $300,000 minimum gross pool today on the Rainbow 6 wager if a single winner exists.

In Friday's racing action, just 5 winners collected on the Rainbow 6 wager, pocketing $16,896.98 each. La Costa, at 18:1 in race 7 won by three lengths over the favorite as the long shot winner on the day. The late Pick 5 paid $30,399, while attracting almost double the Rainbow 6 wagering!

BAUER'S FRIDAY BETS: FAST at TAMPA BAY DOWNS, NO TURF

Friday's nine race program kicks off Festival weekend at 12:13 PM Post time, with fast footing on the dirt. The turf course is closed, due to overnight showers.

Cloudy skies and a rainy forecast threaten  tomorrow's dozen race card, highlighted by the forty-second renewal of the $400,000 Grade 2 Tampa Bay Derby.


Tampa Bay Downs has live Thoroughbred racing every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (except Easter), until closing day on May 7.

The play for today is in RACE 7, Post time is scheduled for 3:15 PM. A competitive group of Sophomore Fillies will go eight and one-half  furlongs on the main track under $32,000 Maiden Claiming conditions. This event was originally carded for the turf.

ENDLESS SUMMER (1) appears to be the one to benefit from the switch in racing surfaces. This daughter of EXAGGERATOR (CURLIN) showed she can handle dirt back on January 12, getting the place under circumstances identical to today's. She set the pace into the stretch before having to settle for second, a perfect prep for this field. Red hot Pablo Morales who won four races last Sunday, has the return mount. They are the lone early pace here on the rail and it would be no surprise to see a gate to wire score.

THE BET:  $20 to win on ENDLESS (1) ($20) and a $2 three horse exacta box ($12) with that one and DANCING SOPHIA (4) and MACRELLETTA (5) 1,4,5  : Total Bet $32   GOOD LUCK.

Friday's Gulfstream Racing; Carryovers


Two carryovers are on the 9 races schedule at Gulfstream Park Friday, under windy conditions with little rain forecast. 

The Super Hi-5 has a $5,094 carryover in race 1.

 

Race 4 starts the Rainbow 6 near a 2:35 PM post time. That carryover sits at $59,923. Gulfstream is setting a $200,000 gross pool guarantee on the Rainbow 6 if a single winner emerges today.

In Thursday's racing action, 42 runners entered the gates in the last 6 races.  Three favorites entered the winners circle. Showery weather forced all three turf races onto the All-Weather Track.

Sixty-six winners split the Rainbow 6 pool for $1,239.30 each.

All sources track handle was $6.68 million Thursday.

In Wednesday's racing action, 10 winners collected on the Rainbow 6 wager earning $5,829.98 each. Three favorites won in the 6 races; Surf and Turf, at 40:1, won by a nose in race 3, the long-odds winner on the day. That culled out many bettor's chances. $104,175 was wagered on the Rainbow 6.

STARSHIP BELMONT (5) showed potential back on January 15, finishing third in her debut with Maiden Special rivals on the local lawn. The figure earned in that outing is enough to win here. She showed early pace ability, leading to the stretch. This daughter of WAR DANCER (WAR FRONT) drops into claiming company for the first time for veteran trainer Anthony Ferraro. Up and coming apprentice jockey Madeline Rowland will ride with a seven pound allowance. She has given a good account of herself in her rookie season, winning eight races from fifty-two mounts (15%). A decent price at 7/2 on the Morning line.

 The play for today is in RACE 9. Post time for the nightcap is 4:18 PM. A full field of older Fillies and Mares will go eight and one-half grassy furlongs, under $16,000 NW3L conditions.

SLIME QUEEN (5) is well spotted here and is due for a wake up today. She drops in to face $16,000 company after running with $25,000 and $32,000 rivals in her last trio of attempts, with very quick pace fractions. This Mare gets class relief and ace turf rider Pablo Morales takes the mount for trainer Jon Arnett (21% winners in claiming races), improvement is expected. This is her best chance to score since coming to the Downs at the start of the season.

GP: Prevalence and In Italian Win First Two Legs of Rainbow 6

Prevalence (4), at 5-1, and In Italian (9), at 5-2, won Saturday's  eighth and ninth races respectively, to start the Rainbow  6 and Late Pick  5 at Gulfstream Park.

The eighth race was a $62,500 optional claimer at one mile on dirt. Betting on the Rainbow 6 was $516,609. The carryover coming in was $150,717.

The ninth race was the Honey Fox at one mile on turf for fillies and mares 4-YO and up. Betting on the Late Pick 5 was $1,331,831.

Still to come are the Gulfstream Park Mile on dirt for 4-yo and up; the MacDiarmida (Grade 2) at 1 3/8 miles on turf for 4-YO and up;  the Fountain of  Youth (Grade 2) at 1-1/16  miles on dirt for 3-YO;  and the Herecomesthebride at one mile on  turf for 3-YO fillies.

The 20 cents per combination-only  bet will be on  races eight through 13 with the sequence scheduled to start at 3:40 p.m.

On Sunday,  Gulfstream will have a mandatory payout of the Rainbow 6  jackpot--regardless of the number of tickets  with all six winning horses.

The jackpot consists of the entire coming-in carryover plus  80  percent of the day's Rainbow 6 bet (20 percent takeout).

Gulfstream usually pays out the jackpot only on days when there is just one Rainbow  6  ticket with all six winners,

When there are multiple tickets with the winners on non-mandatory days, such as today, Gulfstream  takes out 20 percent  of the day's  bet.  It then divides 56 percent of that bet among winning tickets and adds  24 percent to the carryover.

Gulfstream Park's Fountain of Youth card is underway, with conditions listed as Fast and Firm.

The Weather Channel forecast is for just a 2 percent chance of rain during the remaining racing hours.

We expect brisk betting today at Gulfstream Park, with 13 races planned for the Fountain of Youth.

Fountain of Youth Tops Saturday GP Card

The $400,000 Fountain of Youth (Grade 2) for  3-year-olds is one of nine stakes races at  Gulfstream Park on Saturday.

Those races are  part of a 13-race card, with first post of  12:10  p.m.


The Fountain of Youth, at 1 1/6 miles on dirt, is the 12th race with scheduled post at  5:42 p.m.

It is a second round points qualifying race for the Kentucky Derby (Grade 1).  That  1 1/4  mile dirt stakes will be on May 6 a Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky.

The first four Fountain of  Youth  finishers will receive 50, 20, 10 and 5 points respectively.  It is likely that about 30 points will be needed to qualify for  one of the 20 spots in the Kentucky Derby field.

A full field of 12  horses is expected for the  Fountain of Youth.  Simplification, Emmanuel, Rattle N Roll and High Oak are among likely favorites.

Beginning later this morning we will have preview stories on the Fountain of Youth, including  coming-in point totals of top contenders, and stories on several of today's other Gulfstream stakes.
