A Look at the Dania Beach

Today's ninth race at Gulfstream is the Dania Beach Stakes (Grade 3) at one mile on turf for 3-year-olds.

Casa Creed (3) is among the favorites. On Jan. 5 he won the 7 1/2 furlong Kitten's Joy Stakes on the Gulfstream  turf. John Velazquez has the mount for trainer Bill Mott.

Current (10) also is a major win candidate. He is making his first 2019 start. after last year winning the Bourbon (Grade 3) on turf at Keeneland and finishing  seventh in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (Grade 1) at Churchill Downs. Javier Castellano will ride for Todd Pletcher.

A Thread of Blue (6) is making his stakes debut, after a gate to wire   win at 1 1 16 miles at  Gulfstream on Dec. 22.  Luis Saez will ride for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin.

The field also has Royal Urn (11) and Louder than Bombs (5).  They finished third and fourth, respectively in the Kitten's Joy--both within 1 1/2 lengths of  Casa Creed/
