Gulfstream Park on Thursday will reopen its second floor casino room.
On Friday, Gulfstream will reopen its Ten Palms restaurant, which is adjacent to its second floor casino.
The casino and Ten Palms had been closed since March 17. Four days earlier, Gulfstream began racing with no spectators permitted on site.
It took those steps–and continues to race with no spectators on the ground level– to comply with government guidances on social distancing and on limiting the number of persons at public events amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The casino will be open Sundays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m.
Ten Palms will open at 11 a.m. on Friday and will have an a la carte menu. Additional information may be obtained by calling (305) 331-2240.
In a significant change, Ten Palms will have mutuel clerks.
But the “no spectators” rule with no live betting remain in place elsewhere on the Gulfstream property.
Gulfstream’s ground floor casino area, including its poker room, remains closed.
People in the casino and in Ten Palms will not be allowed to watch races from the track apron. That area is still only for horsemen with a horse in the race that is being run.
Access to the track, walking ring and other racing areas is limited to jockeys, trainers and their staff and track employees and employees of regulatory agencies whom are considered essential for operations.
In announcing the reopenings of the casino and Ten Palms, Gulfstream issued this statement:
Gulfstream is following all recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), state and local authorities and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
Gulfstream’s reopening plan has also been approved by Broward County, the City of Hallandale Beach and the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR).
All guests, contractors, suppliers, vendors and employees will be required to follow protocols including thermal temperature screening, use of face coverings, and follow physical distancing markers and other protocols throughout the facility. Sanitizing stations have been installed throughout the facility.
All employees will also receive training on COVID-19 safety and sanitation protocols
