Hereditary 1/2 Length Short of 1st Win in 8th Race at TBD

The feature race for today was the eighth race, which was an allowance optional claiming race of 32,000 that went to the 5-year old gelding Ruffolo under the care of jockey Fernando de la Cruz and trainer Michelle Boyce. 

The race was a mile and 40 yards on the dirt for 4-year olds and upward and had a total purse of 23,500. 

 Bettors favorite for this race was Hereditary at 2-1 for the morning line odds in spite of the 6 year old horse not having won his last six races provided the quality of the previous races he was in. This horse did drop in class today but ran out of time to catch  Ruffolo, short by just a 1/2 length. 

Ruffolo came from behind racing close up the rail, challenged on the far turn and drove strong for the 1:41.81 clocked in finish.  Hereditary was 5 3/4 lengths ahead of the third place finisher Gray Beau ridden by Jose C. Ferrer.  Leading jockey Daniel Centeno brought in 4-year old Marrakech for fourth place. 

The total Win Place Show came to $185,250 and the charts are as follows:
