Hot and Heavy set the pace with an early lead after the first turn leaving competitors a few lengths behind. Musical America came fighting from behind after a slightly steadied start. Then, advanced on the turn, and drew clear very gamely along the last stretch, but ran out of time to capture the leader. He came close but finished 3/4 lengths behind Hot and Heavy and 3 lengths ahead of Up Your Cash, the third place finisher.
He clocked in at 1:36.18 for the win and the total Win Place Show pool came to $203,852. The charts are as follows:
