Wilmer A. Garcia is dominating today with three back to back wins in the fourth, fifth, and sixth race at Tampa Bay Downs.
His first win was with Judy's Chance the 4-year old filly from New Jersey in the 1 1/16 miles race on the turf, then Dizzy Gillespie the 3-year old colt from Maryland in the 1 mile and 40 yard race fifth race, and Awalkinthemoonlite the 8-year old from Florida in the sixth race, 1 1/16 miles on the turf.
Judy's Chance was last seen here in Tampa on December 16 where they finished second by the head, and today made sure the same would not happen. Trained by Derek Ryan, the filly clocked in at 1:44.10 just a 1/2 length ahead of Any Given Trace, the second place finisher.
Garcia rode his next winner, Dizzy Gillespie to their first season victory in the 5th race completely taking over Spring Tune by 9 lengths in a clocked in time of 1:43.44.
Next up in the sixth race came Awalkinthemoonlite taking over in the last furlong with his first win at Tampa with a late, but strong finish over the favorite, Centeno's Be Nice or Leave. Awalkinthemoonlite finished in 1:42.57 just 3/4 ahead of Be Nice or Leave.
Wilmer Garcia takes a break and we will see him again in the ninth race, scheduled post time at 4:25 with his 4-year old filly Just My Game. The morning-line odds come in at 8-1, but the morning-line odds for Awalkinthemoonlite were at 10-1 and we saw how that went. So we will see how Garcia guides this young filly in the ninth.
