The Gulfstream Late Pick 5 is underway, with 3-2 favorite Tapwrit winning the first leg and with bettors adding $302,448 to the pool.
There was a carryover of $40,303 because there were no tickets with all five winners in Friday's tenth and final race.
Tapwrit's victory came in the seventh race--the $75,000 Pulpit Stakes for 2-year-olds. It was scheduled for turf, but Gulfstream this morning moved all of the day's turf races to dirt after heavy overnight rain.
Tapwrit won by two lengths over the late running Master Plan, with a time of 137.68 on the sloppy and sealed track.
Eddie Castro rode Tapwrit for trainer Todd Pletcher.
