Lighthouse Sound and Conscription Take the Co-Features

Leading jockey Daniel Centeno and young, talented jockey Angel Cruz get the job done in today's two 1 1/16 mile feature races: the fourth and sixth that had a combined purse of $46,000.

Lighthouse Sound redeemed himself since his last appearance in the Tampa Turf Test clocking in at a time of 1:42.33, a 1/2 length victory over Patrick's Day one of the favorites in this race.  The gelding, trained by Darien Rodriguez was in seventh at the start but moved up four wide entering the far turn then rallied three wide eventually breaking clear and holding on to the lead.

Patrick's Day went four wide and closed gamely on the outside, chasing down Lighthouse Sound coming close but ran out of time to get ahead of him. The third place finisher, Lewis Vale trained by Larry Rivelli and ridden by Jesus L Castanon was the favorite of the race, and he had a short lead but weakened in the last furlong.

Twenty-one year old jockey Angel Cruz's Conscription beat the veteran Daniel Centeno's Tyrannical by a length today finishing with a time of 1:42.61.  Tyrannical won the start set the pace, and held the lead throughout until the very end Conscription closed willingly gaining the last minute lead to victory.  Conscription, trained by H.G. Motion came in as the favorite for the race and has a tendency to up his speed on the late pace and today was no different. Monique's Candy ridden by Albin Jimenez raced off the rail, rallied mildly outside and finished third 2 1/2 lengths behind Tyranical.
