Supererr Spender held off a late run by Partly Mocha to win the $110,000 Claiming Crown Canterbury Stakes at Gulfstream Park on Saturday.
It was five furlongs on turf and the eighth race on Gulfstream's 11-race card.
Super Spender won in 56.54 seconds. Nik Suarez rode for trainer Jane Cibelli.
Still to come in the Claiming Crown:
9th -- Tiara, 1 1/16 miles on turf for fillies and mares
10th --Jewel, 1 1/8 miles dirt
11th -- Emerald, 1 1/16 miles turf
