Bode's Dream, Lirica Win in Gulfstream Slop

Bode's Dream won the six-furlong House Party and  Lirica won the one mile Hut Hut to start the stakes races on a wet Juvenile Showcase day at Gulfstream Park.

Those two stakes and the four to come all have $75,000 purses.

The Pulpit (7th race) for males and the Wait a While (11th race) for fillies were scheduled for one mile on turf.  They have been moved to one mile on the  dirt track that is sloppy and sealed.

Bode's Dream won for the third time in three career starts. She led almost the whole route with pressure from Wildcat Kate.

Bode's Dream, the 5-2 favorite, was ridden by John Velazquez. She pulled away in the stretch to beat Wildcat Kate by 2 3/4  lengths. Brahms Cat came in third,.

Bode's Dream won in 1:11.16.  She is trained by Todd Pletcher and is a daughter of Bodemeister,  who finished second to I'll Have Another in the 2012 Kentucky Derby and Preakness.

Lirica, the 5-2 favorite. took the lead entering the stretch and held on to beat My Cousin Martha by  a length in the Hut Hut.

Edgsard Zayas rode Lirica who won in 1:39.68. She is trained by  Antonio Sano.

This evening we will  have more details including prices  on all six of today's stakes.
