Gulfstream Park will have a Rainbow 6 carryover of
$
61,533 on Friday.
First post is 12:35 p.m. for the 10-race card. The
Rainbow 6 is on races five through ten.
On Thursday, the payoff on the 20-cent only bet was
$84.28 for each of the 499 tickets that had the winners of all of the Rainbow 6
races.
That was the third lowest Rainbow 6 payoff of the year
at Gulfstream or at its Gulfstream Park West meet held at Calder, according to
HorseRacingFLA’s review of Equibase charts.
The low Rainbow 6 payoff was a result of favorites winning
four of the six races and horses at 2-1 and 6-1 winning the other two races.
The carryover coming into Thursday was $43,578. Bettors added $74,821 to the pool.
On the Rainbow 6, Gulfstream pays out the full jackpot (all of the carryover plus 80 percent of the day’s Rainbow 6 bet) only on days when there is just one ticket with the winners of all six Rainbow 6 races.
On other
days, Gulfstream takes out 20 percent of the day’s Rainbow 6 bets and then
divides 56 percent among tickets with the most winning horses (in Thursday’s
case six) and adds 24 percent to the carryover.
The Rainbow 6 is a 20-cent per combination-only bet. Multiple horses can be used in each race, thus setting up a ticket with multiple 20 cent combinations. For example, a ticket with two horses in each race has 64 combinations and costs $12.80.
