Ruffolo Wins Tampa Feature

Ruffolo maintained a short lead over Laddie Boy for almost the entire route and held on to win by a half length in Wednesday's seventh race at Tampa Bay Downs.

Ruffolo won in 1:40.56 for the one mile and forty yard race on the dirt track listed as sloppy.  The race had been scheduled for one mile on turf. Scratches reduced the field to five starters.

The race was a $62,500 optional claimer with a purse of $24,500 for 4-year-olds and up.

Ruffalo was not in for a claim.

Fernando De La Cruz rode the 5-year-old gelding for trainer Michele Boyce.  The win was the fourth for Ruffalo in 14 career starts.
