Gulfstream: A Look at Today's Super Hi-5 Carryover

Wednesday’s first race at Gulfstream Park has a carryover of $112,178 on the Super Hi-5, which requires picking the first five finishers in correct order.

Post time for that race is 12:35 p.m.

It is 6 ½ furlongs on dirt for 4-year-olds and up that have never won two races.  The purse is $15,000 and the claiming price is $6,250.  There are nine entrants. The track is listed as fast.

It is likely that $200,000 or more will be bet on the Super Hi-5 in this low-level claiming race.

Bettors are chasing more than $100,000 in free money, making this a “gold rush” kind of race.

They have had two days to handicap since Sunday, when there were no winning Super Hi-5 tickets in the last three races.

It is a $1 minimum bet, with a 17 percent takeout.  There are no consolation payouts, such as four-of-five.

Here is our suggested $24 bet.
First --  Money Market (5) and Khamsa Tfu (7)
Second – Money Market (5) and Khamsa Tfu (7)
Third –  Magnanimous Mike (6) and Nacho Giant (9)
Fourth -- Sir Hannoun (3), Bay Point Count (4), Magnanimous Mike (6) and Nacho Giant (9)
Fifth – Sir Hannoun (3), Bay Point Count (4), Magnanimous Mike (6) and Nacho Giant (9)

Again:
1 --   5  7
2 – 5 7
3 -- 6 9
4 -- 3 4 6 9
5 – 3 4 6  9

We suggest tossing Moonstriking (1) and Svetik (2) because of their poor overall records and the poor overall records of their connections.  We suggest tossing Slapjack (8) because of his poor record on Gulfstream’s dirt.

To consider:
5 – Money Market is the speed of this group. The question is whether he can carry it 6 ½ furlongs.

7 – Khamsa Tfu is coming off a maiden 5 ½ furlong win that stacks up well versus this group.

6 – Magnanimous Mike – Has been the most consistent of this group, and is trained by must-respect Antonio Sano.

Also -- 9 Macho Giant, 4 Bay Point Count and 3 Sir Hannoun have had GP dirt races that make them competitive against this group.
