New Rainbow 6 Carryover Starts at $10,771

Gulfstream Park will have a $10,771 carryover on its Rainbow 6 on Thursday.

First post is 12:35 p.m. for a ten-race card. The Rainbow 6 starts with the fifth race.

Gulfstream began a new Rainbow 6 pool on Wednesday. That was its first race day since Sunday, when there was a single winning ticket that took down a jackpot/carryover of $810,713.

The new pool got off to a chalky start.

There were 198 tickets with the winners of all six Rainbow 6 races. Each of those tickets received $126.66.

That was the second highest number of winners and second lowest payoff on the Rainbow 6 during the first 48 days of the championship meet that began Dec. 3. There were 499 winning tickets that paid $84 each on Dec. 15.

On Wednesday, the post-time odds  ranged between 2-5 and 3-1 on the six winners. Three of those horses were favorites.

Bettors put $44,899 into the Rainbow 6. Following the 20 percent takeout, Gulfstream divided 56 percent among the tickets with six winners and put 24 percent into the new carryover.
Gulfstream pays out the Rainbow 6 jackpot (carryover plus 80 percent of the day’s bet) only on days when there is just one ticket with the winners of all six races.
The Rainbow 6 is a 20-cent per combination-only bet. Multiple horses can be used in each race, thus setting up a ticket with multiple 20 cent combinations.  For example, a ticket with two horses in each race has 64 combinations and costs $12.80.
