Underway at GP West

The Gulfstream Park West meet's Friday card is underway with Missworldvenezuela, the 9-5 favorite, beating First Dixie by  1  1/2 lengths in the first race.

The race was a $12,500 claimer at five furlongs on turf for fillies and mares that had never won two races.  Missworldvenezuela won  it in 57.31 seconds with Tyler Gaffalione riding for trainer Ruben Gracida.

It was the start of a nine-race card.

The dirt track is listed as fast and the turf is listed as firm.

Races one, two, four, six. eight and nine are scheduled for turf. The portable rail is at 25 feet.

The Weather Channel forecast is for a zero percent chance of rain during racing hours.

The carryover on the Rainbow 6 is $53,579.  It is on races  four through nine.

We will have coverage this afternoon on this blog.

In addition, we will resume our Gettin’ Out Alive feature in which we handicap and suggest bets on the day’s last race at GP West.

A link to Gettin’ Out Alive is in the toolbar at the top of our web  site’s home pagehttps://www.horseracingflhttps://www.horseracingfla.com/2016/11/six-turf-races-rainbow-6-carryover-at-gp-west.htmla.com/2016/11/six-turf-races-rainbow-6-carryover-at-gp-west.html

The last race at GP West (and at the upcoming Gulfstream Park championship meet) almost always has a large field that presents a handicapping challenge.

Our goal is to provide some extra insight at the end of a long handicapping day.

Through nine days we have recommended $231 in bets.  The total payoff has been $296—for a 28 percent return.

Today’s ninth and final race at GP West is five furlongs on turf for fillies and mares 3-years-old and up  that have never won three races,  It has a ten-horse field.  The purse is $14,00 and the claiming price is $8,000.

Scheduled post is 4:37 p.m. We will put our predictions on our Web site at approximately 3:45 p.m.

*GP West will have ten races on Saturday and ten races on Sunday, with first post of 12:35 p.m.
