Tepin
and Three Rules are the most
prominent names among horses that raced in Florida this year and are among entrants for this weekend’s
Breeders’ Cup races.
Both will be racing on Saturday at Santa Anita Park in
Arcadia, Calif.
The five-year-old mare Tepin will seek to repeat as the
winner in the Breeders’ Cup Mile (Grade 1) on turf. She is one of five females
in the 14-horse field.
This year at Tampa bay Downs, Tepin won the Endeavour
(Grade 3) at 1 1/16 miles on turf and the Hillsborough (Grade 2) at 1 1/8 miles
on turf. Both races were restricted to fillies and mares 3-years-old and up.
Three Rules will be among favorites in the Breeders’
Cup Juvenile (Grade 1) at 1 1/16 miles
on dirt for two-year-old males.
He is undefeated in five starts, including a sweep of
the three-race Florida Sire Stakes Series.
