On Friday, the Gulfstream Park West meet will have carryovers of $13,240 on the Late Pick 5 and of $16,545 on the Rainbow 6.
First post is 12:35 p.m. for the ten-race card. Gulfstream Park is holding the GP West meet at Calder under a lease agreement.
The carryovers are courtesy of Miss Regal Light, at 79-1, winning the seventh race on the eight-race card.
That resulted in no tickets with the winners of all six races in the Rainbow 6 and no tickets with all five winners in the Late Pick 5.
*Rainbow 6 – Gulfstream made its “non-jackpot” payoff to each of the seven ticket holders with five winners. Each received $1,236.44.
Gulfstream pays out the full Rainbow 6 jackpot (all of the carryover plus 80 percent of the day’s bet) only on days when there is just one ticket with all six winners.
The carryover coming in on Thursday was $12,974. Bettors added $14,884 to the pool. Of that, Gulfstream took out 20 percent. It then divided 56 percent among tickets with the most winners (in this case five winners) and added 24 percent to the carryover.
The Rainbow 6 is a 20-cent per combination only bet, with multiple combinations allowed on each ticket.
*Late Pick 5—Thursday’s wagering was $20,771. Each ticket with four winners received $105.35 on a minimum bet of 50 cents. The takeout on the bet is 15 percent.
With bettors chasing the rare carryover, it is likely that $75,000 or more will be wagered on the Late Pick 5.
