Horse Racing FLA will be on the trail this Friday and Saturday, following the Breeders’ Cup races with special emphasis on horses that raced at Gulfstream Park or at Tampa Bay Downs and a focus on other horses with Florida connections.
We will have previews and results beginning mid-day Friday through our wrap-ups on Sunday,
Look to us at our home page, or on our Breeders’ Cup category page at: https://www.horseracingfla.com/category/handicapping
The Breeders’ Cup is being run at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, Calif.
The first of 13 Breeders’ Cup races is today’s sixth race at Santa Anita. It is the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (Grade 1) at one mile on turf for two-year-old males. Scheduled post is 5:25 p.m. Eastern.
The field includes several horses that have been racing in northern states or in Ontario, and could be racing in early 2017 at Gulfstream or at Tampa Bay.
One of those horses is Wellabled, a Larry Rivelli trainee who won the recent Arlington Washington Futurity (Grade 3) on the synthetic track at Arlington Park in Arlington Heights, Ill. In his only turf race, Wellabled finished second in the Skidmore Stakes at Saratoga.
Early this afternoon, we will have a feature story on Wellabled by our national correspondent Jimmy Goldenberg.
Our editor Jim Freer and Goldenberg will provide Breeders’ Cup coverage–supplemented by reports from the Breeders’ Cup and Gulfstream media offices. We will have analysis from nationally known handicapper Toby Callet.
Staff Additions
Monique Welch has joined us as a reporter covering racing at Gulfstream Park and Tampa Bay Downs when that meet starts November 26.
Jimmy Goldenberg joins us as a national correspondent, writing feature stories on Florida racing, the business side of racing, through his knowledge and affiliation with trainers, owners and other key people in racing.
