Gulfstream Park announced on Tuesday
that it has cancelled racing for Wednesday through Friday at the Gulfstream
Park West meet that is being held at Calder Casino in Miami Gardens, Fla.
Gulfstream is taking that step
because of the prospect that Hurricane Matthew might severely impact the
weather in South Florida, said P.J. Campo, Gulfstream’s general manager.
The Gulfstream Park West meet will
open on Saturday Oct. 8. GP West also
will have racing this Sunday and Monday.
Gulfstream did not announce whether it
will schedule make-up dates for the three cancelled race cards.
Gulfstream is running the GP West meet
under a lease with Calder.
Gulfstream, in Hallandale Beach,
Fla., will be open for simulcasting Wednesday.
