GP West Meet Off to 19-1 Start

Horse Spotter Carl, at 19-1, shot out to the early lead and went to  win the first race on Saturday's opening day card at the Gulfstream Park West meet, held at Calder  Casino.

The race was a $12,500 claimer at  six furlongs on dirt for 3-year-olds and up.

Horse Spotter Carl, a 3-year-old colt, had the rail post and won in 1:11.19--fast for the deep Calder track, and especially at the $12,500 level.

Marcos Meneses rode Horse Spotter Carl for trainer/owner Steve Dwoskin.
