Racing is back on the turf Wednesday at the Gulfstream
Park West meet, being held at Calder Casino in Miami Gardens.
First post is 1:15 p.m. for the eight-race card. Races
one, three, five, seven and eight are scheduled for turf with the rail at 20
feet.
The GP West meet has not had turf races since last
Friday.
Five races were scheduled for turf on both Saturday
and Sunday. Following late morning rain both days, meet sponsor Gulfstream Park
moved those races to the dirt track that
was listed as sloppy and was sealed.
The Weather Channel forecast is for a 15 percent
chance of rain during racing hours in and around Miami Gardens.
On Wednesday there will be a new pool in the Rainbow
6, on races three through eight.
That will follow two straight race days, Saturday and
Sunday, when there was just one ticket with the winners of all six Rainbow 6
races.
The purse is $34,000 and the optional claiming price
is a high-end $75,000. The field is down
to six, following the morning scratches of U.S. Diva and Brahms Cat.
We will have a preview as part of our coverage on this
blog.
