Valid ended his successful Gulfstream Park championship meet with a wire-to-wire victory in the $150,000 Skip Away Stakes (Grade 3).
Valid, the 2-5 favorite, beat Team Colors by 1 3/4 lengths in the 1 1/8 mile dirt stakes. With Nik Juarez riding, he won in the solid time of 1;48.42 on the sealed track that was listed as good following early afternoon rains.
In the winner's circle, trainer Marcus Vitali said he will give Valid a vacation "of two to three months." Then, he plans to run Valid in stakes races during the summer and fall at Pimlico and Laurel in Maryland.
Those tracks, like Gulfstream, are owned by the Stronach Group.
Valid is a 6-year-old gelded son of Medaglia d'Oro. At Gulfstream this season, Valid had two wins, two second place finishes and one fourth place finish in stakes races.
