Florida Derby entrant Majesto, owned by Grupo 7c Racing Stable, has been getting some attention following his impressive maiden-breaking win at 1 1/16 miles on turf at Gulfsteam on Feb. 27.
That was Majesto's fifth career race, and it came when he had gotten past a series of back problems, Carlos Luis Giardinello, Grupo 7c's manger.
On Feb. 27, Majesto stalked the pace, took the lead in mid stretch and won by a length over Dig Deep in the solid time of 1;44.00.
In contrast Mohaymen won the Fountain of Youth in 1:42.64 later in the day..
Still, Majesto is getting some attention as a good candidate to hit the trifecta.
Giardinello said he expects that Majesto will run a strong race today, be within striking distance eneterung the stretch and then make a strong run to the finish.
Javier Castellano has the return mount today on Majesto, who is trained by Gustavo Delgado.
Majesto has run twice in 1 1/8 mile maiden special weight races, finishing third in an 11-horse field and sixth in a 14-horse field.
