The versatile Brother Pat returned to the Tampa Bay Downs dirt track on Friday, and led at every call in winning the first race.
Brother Pat, a 7-year-old gelding, won in 1:40.74 in the one mile and 40 yard race--a $16,000 claimer with a $19,200 purse.
Brother Pat, with Antonio Gallardo riding, won by 1 3/4 lengths over Financial Freedom, ridden by Fernando De La Cruz and trained by Dale Bennett. Brother Pat was the 5-2 second betting choice and Financial Freedom was the 8-5 favorite in the six-horse field.
The win was Brother Pat's third in three career starts on the Tampa Bay dirt track. Last year, he won three turf races at Tampa Bay.
Brother Pat has 13 wins in 43 career starts. Most of his races have been at higher levels than Friday's $16,000 level.
Victor Carasco trains Brother Pat for owner Oscar Diaz.
