Springmeier won at six furlongs on dirt in 1:10.44 on the dirt track listed as fast. The race was a $40,000 allowance/optional claimer with a $24,000 purse.
The race was the first at Tampa Bay for Springmeier, a 4-year-old gelding trained by John Vinson.
Springmeier, at 7-1, was the fourth betting choice in the six-horse field and My Johnny Be Good was the second choice at 2-1.
Sky and Sea, a filly, finished third. Thunder Harbor, the 3-2 favorite, came in fourth. He had won his last two races, both at six furlongs at the $25,000 level at Tampa Bay.
