Gulfstream Park West: Fast & Firm for Thursday; Arroyo Rides Three Winners on Wednesday

The dirt track is listed as Fast and the urf is listed as Firm for Thursday's eight-race card at the Gulfstream Park West meet, at Calder in Miami Gardens.

First post is 12:00 p.m.

The Weather Channel forecast is for a zero percent chance of rain during racing hours.

The first race has a Super Hi-5 carryover of $3,026. 

It is a $12,500 maiden claiming race at five furlongs on turf for fillies and mares 3-YO and up.  There are 16 entries, including four also eligibles.

The Rainbow 6 has a carryover of $32,754.  The 20 cent per combination-only bet is on races three to eight with  the sequence scheduled to start  at 1:10 p.m.

Arroyo Wins Three

Angel Arroyo rode three winners on Wednesday's eight-race GP West card.

Meanwhile, Edgard Zayas and Emisael Jaramillo rode two winners each and Anthony Burgos rode one winner.

The results left Zayas first in victories, with five, after three days of the GP West meet. He led jockeys with 127 wins in the recently completed Gulfstream spring/summer meet.

Arroyo has four wins, and is in second place after three days of the GP West meet. He is a native of Panama and in recent years has been riding primarily at tracks in northeastern states.

Arroyo began riding at Gulfstream late in the summer.  He rode 19 winners in the spring/summer meet.

Jaramillo, Burgos and Samy Cmacho have three wins each at GP West

Schedule

GP West has added Monday Oct. 12, which is Columbus Day, to its live racing schedule.

Per its regular schedule, GP West has racing this Friday, Saturday and Sunday

The GP West meet is closed to spectators and does not have any live betting on site.

At its track in Hallandale Beach, Gulfstream has its north tent area open on GP West race days for simulcast betting on those races and on other tracks that are part of its regular simulcast menu.

Betting on Gulfstream West races may be done on most Advance Deposit Wagering (ADW) Internet and phone services. Many sports books, race tracks and OTB offices have simulcasting on GP West races.

Tampa Bay Downs, Hialeah Park and Pompano Park are among Florida pari-mutuels that carry the GP West simulcast schedule.

GP West races are streamed on Gulfstream's Web site https://www.gulfstreampark.com/.

Among ADWs that carry GP West are Xpressbet.com, 1st/BET.com, Twinspires.com, drfbets.com and tvg.com. The first two are owned by The Stronach Group, the parent company of Gulfstream.
