Bettors poured $890,459 into the Rainbow 6 on Saturday at the Gulfstream Park West meet, which is run at Calder in Miami Gardens, Fla.
That betting was part of the wagering to start the fourth race.
Hard West (1) at 8-5 won the fourth race. Aycapote (1) at 2-1 won the fifth race, which was the second leg of the Rainbow 6. Friendly Fella (2) at 3-1 won the sixth race. Front Loaded (4) at 6-1 won the seventh race.
It is a mandatory payout day - in which meet sponsor Gulfstream Park will divide 80 percent of the day's Rainbow 6 bet (20 percent takeout) and the entire coming-in carryover of $111,271 among all tickets with the six Rainbow 6 winners. Those tickets will divide about $835,000.
Gulfstream had projected that the Rainbow 6 pool would be in the $500,000 range. And with rain forcing a move of the two turf races (fifth and seventh) in the Rainbow 6 to the Sloppy dirt track, that number seemed optimistic to some at the start of Saturday's races.
But fan around the country, a large number betting through ADW accounts, once again showed their interest in Gulfstream-sponsored races.
No spectators are allowed at Calder. Betting at Gulfstream is on a limited basis, in the north tent area and on some days by invitation in he Silks simulcast area.
