GP West off the Turf for Friday

The Gulfstream Park West meet will not have any turf races on Friday.

All five scheduled-for-turf races have been moved to the dirt, which is listed as Fast.

Those are the first, third, fifth, seventh  and ninth races on the card at Calder in Miami Gardens, Fla.

First post is 12:00 p.m. for Friday's nine-race card, with two carryovers and no stakes races.

Friday is the third straight day and 11th day in the first 15 of the meet on which at least one race has been  taken off the turf due to rain or other wet conditions.

The first  race has a Super Hi-5 carryover of  $3,890. It is a $40,000 maiden claimer for 2-YO fillies. There are twelve entries. A maximum of ten horses can start.

The carryover on the Rainbow 6, now two race days old, is $19,245.  The 20 cents per combination-only bet is on races four to nine, with the sequence scheduled to start at 1:42 p.m.

The first, third, fifth, seventh  and ninth races are scheduled for turf.

GP West will have a ten-race card on  Saturday and an eight-race card on Sunday-- with first post of 12:00 p.m. and no stakes races.

Watching and Wagering

The GP West meet is closed to spectators and does not have any live betting on site.

At its track in Hallandale Beach, Gulfstream has its north tent area open on GP West race days for simulcast betting on those races and on other tracks that are part of its regular simulcast menu.

Betting on Gulfstream West races may be done on most Advance Deposit Wagering (ADW) Internet and phone services. Many sports books, race tracks and OTB offices have simulcasting on GP West races.

Tampa Bay Downs, Hialeah Park and Pompano Park are among Florida pari-mutuels that carry the GP West simulcast schedule.
