Temple Fur won the $75.000 Betsy Ross Stakes on
Monday--adding her first stakes win to what has been an impressive turf
season at Gulfstream Park.
Temple
Fur, ridden by Gerardo Corrales, split horses in the top of the stretch
and pulled ahead to beat First Illusion by 3 1/2 lengths in the 7 1/2
furlong turf stakes for 3-year-old fillies. Pancake finished third, a head behind First Illusion.

Temple Fur won in the solid time of 1:28.48 on the course listed as firm. She was the 5-2 favorite in a seven-horse field,
The win was Temple Fur's third in her last four starts--all on turf at Gulfstream.Her only loss in that span was a second place finish in the 1 1/16 mile Christmas Past Stakes on June 11. Sharp Kitty,the winner of that race, was not in the Betsy Ross.
Temple Fur is a daughter of the prominent turf sire Temple City.
