Wildcat Wish, the 8-5 favorite, finished third--another 2 3/4 lengths back in the one-mile dirt race for 3-year-olds and up.
It was a $62,500 optional claimer with a $44,000 purse. None of the top three finishers were in for the tag.
Hy Kodiak Warrior won in 1:36.74 on the track listed as fast. He was the 3-1 second choice in the seven-horse field.
Cornelio Velasquez rode Hy Kodiak Warrior for trainer Antonio Sano and owner Mar Racing.
The win was Hy Kodiak Warrior's second in five starts this year--all at Gulfstream. He is a son of Kodiak Kowboy.
In his most recent start, June 19 at Gulfstream, Hy Kodiak Warrior finished third behind winner Rich Daddy and Wildcat Wish in a $62,500 optional claimer at one mile on dirt.
