Twice before yesterday's race we posted items saying we thought Majesto was a big overlay as the board showed odds of 56-1 and then 55-1.
We noted hat Majesto had finished second to Nyquist (the Kentucky Derby favorite) in the Florida Derby and appeared strong at the end of that 1 1/8 mile race on April 2.
Majesto was then sent off at 56-1 and finished 18th in the 1 1/4 mile Run for the Roses.
“It didn’t look like he handled the racetrack,” Majesto's trainer Gustavo Delgado told the Churchill Downs media office after the race.
Other than Majesto, we fared well in the Kentucky Derby with our "budget betting" selections posted on this blog.
We suggested $78 in wagers, and their total payout was $95.55--for a profit of $17.55 that was a 22.5 percent on investment.
That included a win bet on Nyquist, the winning exacta and the winning trifecta.
