Gulfstream Park has a ten-race card on Sunday with
first post of 1:15 p.m.
It will follow a Saturday when Applicator, at 51-1,
took an early lead and held on to beat Quiet Force by a half length in the $75,000
Gleaming Stakes at 1 ½ miles on turf for 3-yeat-olds and up.
Sunday’s feature sixth race is a $25,000 optional claimer
at 1 1/16 miles on turf for 3-year-olds and up. The purse is $43,000.
Conditions are listed as fast and firm, and five races
are scheduled for turf.
The Weather Channel forecast shows a 15 percent chance
of rain during racing hours in Hallandale Beach, where Gulfstream is located.
There is a carryover of $130,750.01 on the Rainbow 6,
on races five through ten.
It is a 20-cent per combination bet and requires
having a ticket with the winners in each
of the six races.
We will have coverage of the Sunday racing on this
blog.
*On Monday, Memorial Day, Gulfstream will have eleven
races with first post at 1:15 p.m.
Gulfstream will be dark on Tuesday, and then resume
its regular Wednesday through Sunday schedule.
On Saturday June 4, it will have its Summit of Speed
Preview Day with seven stakes races.
Those stakes are at the same distances and for the
same age groups as richer stakes, including three graded stakes, that
Gulfstream will have on the Summit of Speed card on July 2.
