Trainer Mark Casse won his
2,000th career race on Saturday, with Reimburse in the second race at Gulfstream Park.
Casse, who is running
horses at several tracks in North
America this weekend, was not at Gulfsream for the milestone. His assistant trainer Jamie Begg saddled Reimburse.
Casse is basing a
division at Gulfstream Park during the spring and summer meetings for the first
time.
The 55-year-old native
of Indianapolis, who resides in Ocala and Kleinburg, Ontario, is an eight-time
Sovereign Award-winning trainer in Canada and was elected to the Canadian Horse
Racing Hall of Fame this year.
Reimburse, the 6-5
favorite, closed with a rush under jockey Tyler Gaffalione to capture the
$50,000 claiming race for fillies and mares at a mile on turf.
