Tampa Bay Friday Card Has Large Carryovers on Super Hi-5 and Late Pick 5

Tampa Bay Downs on Friday will  have a Super Hi-5 carryover of $12,048 on its first race and a Late Pick 5 carryover of $34,673.

First post is 12:45 p.m. for a ten-race card.

The Late Pick 5 is on races six through ten, with the sequence set to start at 3:20 p.m.

Tampa Bay Downs history suggests that more than $100,000 could be bet on the Late Pick 5 and that more than $40,000 could be bet on the first  race  Super Hi-5.

Thursday was dark at Tampa Bay.  That gave bettors a full day  to handicap.  For anyone who  did not bet on Wednesday, the two exotic wagers offer a chance to get in and chase money lost  by other bettors.

On Wednesday, the Oldsmar track's most recent racing day, there were no winning Super Hi-5 tickets on any  of the last three races--eight to ten.

Also on Wednesday, there were no tickets with the winning horses in all five of the Late Pick 5 races -- six to ten.

Thus, Friday's card has the two carryovers.

Super Hi-5
Friday's first race is 1 1/16 miles on dirt for maiden claimers 4-years-old and up.

The purse is $19,400, and claiming prices are $10,000 and $8,000.

The race has seven entrants.  Tampa Bay requires a minimum seven starters to offer the Super Hi--5.

If there  are any first  race scratches, the Super Hi-5 carryover will be delayed.  The number of entrants are six in the second race, seven in the third race and nine in the fourth race.

The Super Hi-5 is a $1 minimum bet with an 18 percent takeout.

It requires picking the first  five finishers in correct order.  If there are no winning tickets, the entire  carryover plus 82 percent of the new bet are carried over to the next race with the Super Hi-5.

Late Pick 5
A main reason for the carryover is that on Wednesday 29-1 shot Chester House won the tenth and final race.

Odds on the other four winning horses were 3-1, 6-1, 12-1 and 6-5.

Each ticket with four winners received $234.40 for  a minimum 50 cent bet.  The number of those tickets was not readily available.

The Late Pick 5 has an 18 percent takeout.

The five Friday races in the Late Pick 5 have a total of 50  entrants--including main track only and also eligibles.

The Friday sequence includes the feature  sixth race.

It an optional claimer at one mile and 40  yards on dirt for 3-year-olds.  The purse is $22,500 and the optional claiming price is $75,000.
