Bellavais and Doctor Mounty were the winners of Saturday's turf stakes at Gulfstream Park.
Bellavais beat I'm Betty G by 3 1/2 lengths in the
$150,000 Marshua's River (Grade 3) at 1 1/16 miles for fillies and mares 4-years-old and up.
Doctor Mounty defeated Your Only Man by one length in the $100,000 Tropical Turf (Grade 3) at one mile for four-year-olds and up.
Javier Castellano rode both winners.
Bellavais, at 2-1, won in 1:41.98 on the course listed as firm. It was the first graded stakes victory for Bellavais, a 4-year-old daughter of Tapit. She is trained by Todd Pletcher.
Doctor Mounty, at 5-1, won in 1:34.62. Shug McGaughey trains Doctor Mounty, a 6-year-old son of Street Sense.
Stakes Schedule
On Saturday Jan, 19, Gulfstream will have its annual Sunshine Millions, with four stakes races restricted to Florida-breds.
Those races are:
*$200,000 Sunshine Millions Classic, 1 1/8 miles on dirt for 4-year-olds and up
*$150,000 Sunshine Millions Turf, 1 1/16 miles, 4-year-olds and up
*$100,000 Sunshine Millions Fillies and Mares Turf, F&M 4-YO and up
*$100,000 Sunshine Millions Sprint, six furlongs dirt, 4-YO and up
Saturday Jan. 26 will be Pegasus Day, with nine stakes races.
The highlight will be the third running of the $9 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational (Grade 1) at 1 1/8 miles on dirt for 4-year-olds and up.
Also on Jan. 26, Gulfstream will have the first running of the $7 million Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational (Grade 1). The race will be 1 1/8 miles on turf for 4-year-olds and up.
On Saturday Feb. 2, Gulfstream will have five stakes races, headed by the $350,000 Holy Bull (Grade 2) at 1 1/16 miles on dirt for 3-year-olds
