Gulfstream Friday and Weekend Action, Carryovers

Gulfstream Park will have some big pools on its late multi-race bets during the upcoming weekend.

On Friday, Gulfstream will have a carryover of $539,547 on its Rainbow 6.

First post is 12:00 p.m. for the 11-race card.

The Rainbow 6, a 20-cent  per combination only bet, will be on races six to  eleven with the sequence scheduled to start at 2:37 p.m.

If there are multiple tickets with all six Rainbow 6 winners on Friday, Gulfstream on Saturday will guarantee that the Rainbow 6 pool will be at least $750,000.

That would consist of the entire coming-in carryover, plus the new money bet on the Rainbow 6.

Saturday's Rainbow 6 will be on races seven to 12. The 12th and final race is the $9 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational (Grade 1).

Also on Saturday, Gulfstream will definitely have guaranteed pools of at least $1 million on the late Pick 4 (races  nine to  12) and at least $750,000 on the Later Pick  5 (races 8 to  12).

If there are multiple winning Rainbow 6 tickets both Friday and Saturday, Gulfstream on Sunday will have a mandatory payout on the Rainbow  6 jackpot regardless of the number of winning tickets.

The jackpot consists of the entire Rainbow 6 carryover plus 80 percent of the day's new Rainbow   6 bets (20 percent takeout).

Gulfstream generally pays out the jackpot only on days when there is just one ticket with the winners of all six Rainbow 6 races.

On non-mandatory payoff days, when there are multiple  winning tickets Gulfstream takes out 20 percent, divides 56 percent among tickets with the most winners (usually six) and adds 24 percent to the carryover.

Friday Results

Friday was the tenth straight race day with multiple winning Rainbow 6 tickets.

There were a whopping 5,966 winning tickets, with each paying just $22.32 for the 20-cent only bet.

Wagering on the Rainbow 6 was a relatively high $237,788.

The payoff was low for weather-related reasons.

Two of the Rainbow   6 races  were moved from turf to dirt after heavy rain that began mid-way in the race card.

Because of late scratches, there were only 36 horses in the  six races.

The two surface shifts were made after the Rainbow 6 sequence began. Under Gulfstream rules, all horses in those two races were treated as winners for Rainbow 6 purposes.

Four of the six races were won by favorites.

The winning combination was 3-8-ALL-2/6-8-ALL.
